This isn't any particular bitterness talking, but is he the worst ref ever or is it just me?
I remember last year he basically let Mike Whitehead call his own fight against Vernon White. Last month he stops Lesnar and deducts a point without warning. and tonight when Razor Rob had Prater rocked, he let Prater call a time out to pick up his mouth piece.
That is 3 fights in recent memory where he makes a sketchy call.
With no strong affinity for any of those fighters, I don't see it being biased. The man has changed outcomes. That's not okay.

That's not a good track record.
Side note - who was the ref on the Gonzaga-Couture fight? That was another example of of BS reffing. He stopped the fight when G said he couldn't see and then asked him if he could go on. What?!?? Another reason to be bummed on Big John's departure.

Maz has made some glaring errors, but he is still one of the best.
I think the Lesnar call was way out of character for him, but I still hold on to the assertion that he was uner alot of pressure to make sure that the fight didn't end too quickly, and Mir was one shot or two away from being put away.
Tonight w/ Varner, he wasn't going to give Varner the time until Razor gave him space. If McCullough had attacked, Maz would have never stepped in.

Big John has Changed Outcomes also and everyone rides his ass like he is the second coming because he has been around and has a nifty nickname. Refs change outcomes according to the Rules and Fighter safety in general and Steve is on of the best at it. Afre we going to see alot of Seve Bashing like we did with Herb a few years ago???

Dean told him that he can't do that (naturally) and asked him if he wanted to continue. He said yes so they continued. For me the problem was with GG not Herb Dean.
