To be honest, the girls (who's dancing isn't even remotely appealing btw) and music can go... it turns the event into a circus..
And also, I am tired of Mauro (who I liked in PRIDE, but don't in EXC) claiming every event is the loudest he has ever heard it.. better crowd than Japan, better crowd than when Randy won the belt, etc, etc...
And Joe Rogan > Bill Goldberg in the post fight.
ADD: I don't mind Goldberg as an announcer.. there are so many at this point.. good ones and bad ones.. that it doesn't matter to me anymore... but he needs to stop with those post fight talks..

| EXC The Good, The Bad and The Ugly
I've watched the last three EXC shows live and the funny thing is, even though I'm getting them free on the Fight Network, each time I felt more let down than any UFC show that I've payed for. There's nothing strikingly wrong about their production but it just rubs me the wrong way and I can't view it anything but second rate.
Anybody notice, they do to way too many close up shots of the fighters during their pre fight interviews. Both my wife and I found it really annoying. The fighter would be talking and then they close in the shot on basically his eyebrow. And they kept doing it.
I found the introductions WAY too long. Perhaps it's because I'm not as familiar with the fighters and there for don't care enough about them to want to sit through 5 minutes of introductions. I don't know, but it seemed unnecessary.
Totally agree with the dancers and rappers, get rid of them. I laughed and remarked at how the dancers reminded me of the slutty dancers in Baseketball. It just seems tacked on and again, unnecessary.
Completely agree with axing Goldberg. He brings nothing positive to the program and his post fight interviews are of car wreck proportions. They're so bad that I can't help but watch. He seems stiff, stumbles over his words and always seems to find away to insult the fighter he's interviewing. That and I don't like the way he tries to work the crowd, telling them not to boo or what ever. I agree, booing is retarded but his job isn't to tell people what they should like or not like, so shut up, hold the mic and do your job. I loved how he asked Kimbo if his game plan was to "take in into the later rounds" with Tank. What kind of question is that? How does this guy still have a job?
I really don't think they need a reality show, though. Lets be honest, how many more seasons of TUF are left? The show has run its course and ratings, never that great, haven't increased. They'd be entering the game way too late in a market that just isn't there to support it. The proof is in the cage and their success is going to depend on that. Put on good shows with the best talent available and they'll do alright.
MMA in North America needs an alternative so I'm pulling for EXC. I like their round cage and they've got some good talent to work with... (Nick Diaz, KJ Noons, Yves Edwards, Antonio Silva, Ninja, Ruthless Robby, Frank Shamrock, Jake Shields and Drew Fickett... not bad at all) A few more key signings and from a talent pool perspective, they'll pull away as the undisputed (but distant) #2 company. And as long as the shows are free on the Fight Network, I'll keep tuning in.

Totally agree with the girls, rappers, goldberg and Kimbo promotion points. Dead on accurate. One thing I don't agree with is that TUF is a terrible show. This is the best show on TV. Free fights, drunken madness, and best of all, Dana White cussing and call people retarded. Not to mention that this seasons' coaches are Rampage and Forrest, two of the funniest guys in the sport. What more could you ask for in a reality show?

I think that the major problem with EliteXC is that they don't really have great PPVs. The average PPV has like 0 - 1 fights worth watching, and occasionally the fight worth watching is something of a circus act built on hype. See Kimbo Slice vs. Ray Mercer or Tank Abbott
It's kind of like the poor man's UFC, but they have some talent that I really enjoy watching. The whole production just seems a bit budget.

Is there some secret org that I dont know about that all you guys are watching that puts all your dream matches with perfect payrolls attendance, fan particpation. Why cant people just be happy to just watch some fights on TV without ripping every card ever televised to shreds

Considering we're all supposed to be here because we love MMA, there's a lot of dissatisfaction with pretty much every organization. It's an interesting commentary.

Personally the extra stuff didn't bother me.
Goldberg I think could be a decent color commentator if he does it more often.
The one thing that killed me about this show was the horrible refs. During the Yves Edwards fight when they were being plenty busy on the ground, the ref was yelling at them to get busy. Goldberg even commented that he didn't agree with that call.
As much as people want to complain about the UFC ref staff, they looked like top of the line refs compared to what EXC brought to the table.

MMA refs as a generalization, like NBA refs, are fairly inconsistent.
