| Wandy Is Considering A Move To Middleweight Quote:
Former Pride FC 205-pound champion and current UFC fighter, Wanderlei Silva, is considering a move to middleweight (185 pounds) after taking some vacation time since his unanimous decision loss to Chuck Liddell at UFC 79: “Nemesis” on December 29, 2007, according to GracieMag.com.
In addition, the consideration means that the rumored light heavyweight fight between him and Keith Jardine at UFC 84 in May continues to be just that until a decision is made on his future fighting weight.
Here’s the snip from an “Axe Murderer” trainer, Rafael Alejarra:
“Wanderlei made the most of his holidays to rest his body and mind. But we’ve already done a bit of training this weekend and starting tomorrow things will pick up. As we only just got back now and today is a holiday here (Las Vegas) we can’t confirm anything about the next fight, if just because there is the chance Wand will drop down in weight. Every fight and adversary is different, which is why we have to wait to define our training plan. If he should drop to middleweight, we will work on his losing weight and preserving his muscle mass, losing only water and fat and not strength and size, since he normally weight 98 kilos. But nothing’s for sure yet, we’ll wait and see.”

If he could make weight he'd be a fucking...well...axe murderer at 185. I wonder if Shogun could make this move also. He looked small across from Forrest in his last fight. W/ Wandy, Shogun and AS all in the same div, nobody'd ever want to fight anybody, though.

seems like a good idea if he can make the cut comfortably. The MW division definitely is in need of star power much more than the LHW, I mean right away you have A.Silva vs W.Silva and Hendo/Wand III both huge fights. Im all for it as long as the cut doesnt devasted him.
Although on second though im sure the UFC would want him to go back up at some point for Liddel/Silva II but who knows.

Im pretty sure Wand himself said he doesnt think he could make 185. If he can though watch out MW division. Him vs Anderson would be such an awesome fight. I think he should only make the move if its good weight being lost cause if he loses to much muscle he wont be the same fighter

This was coming. I was saying fro awhile that the major difference between pride and UFC was weight cutting. The american wrestlers made it almost mandatory to cut weight over here if you want to be competitive.
As for Anderson and 205.....the UFC will absolutely allow it if he beats Hendo....they got nothing else left for him.

Also in his UFC interview he said Hendo wasn't his toughest challenge. It's like Anderson has completely discounted Hendo. IMO thats dumb, Hendo is a beast, Silva needs to think about that before he decides hes done with the division.
