I think the UFC made a poor decision putting Lesnar in w/ a submission specialist who exposed his weakness. It seems that for Striker/Wrestlers getting into MMA, BJJ is the most difficult aspect to grasp. Elite XC would be wise to continue to put strikers in front of Kimbo for the time being. If it gets to a point where Kimbo's threatining a title shot, then he needs to be tested as an all around fighter. As an asset, he's most valuable to Elite XC fighting exciting stand up fights w/ exciting stand up fighters. |
The fight w/ Brock and Mir could really have gone either way. Had Brock won that fight, people would have said that it was a great idea to pit him against someone who he could seemingly overpower w/ his wrestling. He would have beaten a guy that was not a striker and that would have justified throwing him agianst a BJJ guy.
Either way there would have been "if this than that" scenarios IMO. In this situation there will always be controversy regarding his first opponent.
