| Paul Buentello Issues Open Challenge To Kimbo Quote:
On Monday night, Paul “The Headhunter” Buentello made a special appearance on MMAWeekly Radio to issue a challenge to rising EliteXC star Kimbo Slice for a fight that already has mixed martial arts fans chattering about on the Internet.
“People want to see it. I think everybody wants to see it. Me and Kimbo should lace up the gloves,” said Buentello. “Everybody wants to see it and I think it’s time. He’s fighting all the guys I’ve already knocked out and I’ve already exposed. He needs to get off that buffet line I put out there and come over to my Paul Buentello taco shop and see if we can get to work.”
There were rumors of a fight between the two heavyweights after Buentello commented on a Kimbo street fight just a year ago and fans began to clamor and wonder if they would ever meet.
“Everybody asks me ‘when are you going to fight Kimbo? You should fight that Kimbo guy,’” said the American Kickboxing Academy fighter. “Just give him much respect, he’s been training and accomplished a lot in a year or so. He’s really putting his hands together, he’s really putting his game plan together.”
Buentello says he respects Kimbo’s growing MMA game and guarantees a slugfest would ensue.
“I give him much respect. He stepped up. He went from street fighting to MMA and everybody thought he couldn’t produce, but he’s doing it,” stated Buentello.
“If I was a fan, I would definitely, I would want to see this fight. I would pay money to watch Paul Buentello fight Kimbo in a heartbeat.”
He confirmed on the show that he would be competing on the upcoming March 29 Strikeforce card, although no opponent has been named yet.
After that fight, Buentello believes he should be the next match-up for the YouTube sensation known as Kimbo Slice.
“I’m just throwing the offer out there,” he said. “I know he’d take the offer in a heartbeat, but he does have management.”
For now Buentello will head back into training and prepare for his nest fight on March 29.

This would be an exciting match.

Just what I was looking for because I been saying they should put together a Buentello/Kimbo fight. Paul already wanted him before but that never happened. I like the fact that he isnt being disrespectful either and is just throwing the challenge out there. I always was kind of bitter that they let Buentello go from the UFC but I think he will be back eventually. Paul has stated he eventually wants to be back in the UFC. He may not make champ but he is a good test for most any HW fighter.
If Kimbo gets past Buentello(which I do not see happening) then that would silence the critics.

I see Buentello taking this one. no way kimbo can beat a sriker like that. Look at his resume. Buentello has knocked out a lot of guys. and as much as people wanna talk about gameplans i don't see kimbo taking this fight to the ground

Great match-up. I'ld put my money on Kimbo. I like his speed and power in his hands. Hes shown great body movement in both his streetfights and MMA bouts. ( although they were short lived). No gimme for kimbo tho, Paul is definatly a top 25HW. Although we have yet to see the extent of Kimbo's ground game I see Paul banging it out. Great fight!

see, the thing about kimbo is this---he hits HARD. I mean look at the guy..he's shredded and a freakin beast. He was throwing some decent combo's against Tank and eventually dropped him.
Obviously Buentello is eons ahead of Tank in regards to MMA, but Kimbo has the ability to
throw fairly decent combos with some serious force. I would almost always pick Buentello in this fight, but Kimbo obviously has a punchers chance, and I wouldnt be that shocked if he KO'd Buentello-basically just landing the perfect shot right on the button

"Don't fear me, fear the......BIG ASS MOTHER FUCKER W/ THE POOFY BEARD THAT LOOKS LIKE HE COULD SNAP UR NECK" just a suggestion for Paul's new slogan.
Anyway, I think Buentello can take this but if he gets overwhelmed by those flurries of punches from Kimbo, I can see him getting KO'd.

Yeah, I too would like to see this fight, and I really have to say props to Paul for the way that he called Kimbo out. With a ton of respect and gave him alot of credit. That is rare to see these days.
As for a winner? I see Paul being the better technical striker but again, Kimbo is throwing punches with a lot of force behind them, so I guess the question is if Paul makes it through the first minute or so, then what?
So does this mean that Kimbo is the new HW Houston Alexander?

these are the kind of fights Kimbo needs if he is to be taken seriously...not every gimmick match known to man (Tank and now maybe Shamrock). Buentello/Kimbo is very intruiging and should most definitely happen!
