Lightbulb Brock Lesnar Next Fight Is Rumored …

Quote:
to be at UFC 85 at the O2 Arena in London, England, on June 7.

There’s a lot of talk about who the former WWE wrestler superstar should take on next. The man who just beat him in his Octagon debut, Frank Mir, tells CBSSports.com who he should not fight next.

Here’s a snip:

“It depends on who he fights. He needs to be more selective on who he fights. He has a great ground-and-pound game, so that will be his strength. He doesn’t need to fight anyone whose strength is to fight off his back. If he fights Gonzaga, Nogueira, myself or Werdum, Lesnar could have trouble. We all fight well off our backs. Even if he’s winning the fight, he’s in a position that at any time we could end the fight. He needs to fight some top-level strikers. Therefore, he’ll only be in danger until he gets the takedown.”

Mir makes some valid points. But are there any quality opponents who fit this description in the division right now who would be a good (and fair) test for the former NCAA Division I wrestling champion?

Tim Sylvia, Brandon Vera and Andrei Arlovski are the only three “top-level” strikers who come to mind. And it’s doubtful Lesnar would be matched up against any of these fighters coming off a loss — Sylvia is too capable of a win, Vera is rumored to be fighting Werdum and Arlovski himself has no idea about his future plans beyond March 1.

Perhaps an Antoni Hardonk, Christian Wellisch or Eddie Sanchez-type is more appropriate. Several readers have already also suggested the loser of the heavyweight bout between Cheick Kongo and Heath Herring.

Thoughts on who you think Brock Lesnar should fight next?

Well, Brandon Vera will also fighting on June 7 in England...i think Lesnar's next opponent is Vera.

i want to see Hardonk vs Kongo before they kill the momentum of either guy by putting him against someone like Brock. i think that would be fun.

but having Brock fight either isnt bad. Kongo is slower and probably less dangerous standing up.

Guys with Lesnar's size are why Vera needs to move down to 205. Lesnar would be coming in with probably 60lbs on Vera.

I would like to see Lesner fight Justin Eilers or Eddie Sanchez. They are two guys who are OK but not great. I think if Lesnar can't beat one of them then he needs to rethink his career.

So the rumor of who Lesnar is fighting is that they don't have any idea on who he is fighting. Some really ground breaking reporting done by that website.

I think he should fight Eddie Sanchez, he would destroy him and then they could set up Lesnar/Sylvia although I think Lesnar would beat Sylvia right now.

Yea, and Vera is already signed for June 7 match up in England...unless if they postpone the Werdum/Nogueira match.
