Seriously, I do pick Matt to come out on top this time around, but I know how good Penn is.

The thing is, I believe Hughes has stepped up his game. I've been annoyed by some of the posts that hand out excuses for Penn before the fight even starts, yet gives no weight to the five opponents Hughes has defeated in the past 2.5 years. Trigg wasn't considered such a can until after Hughes dominated him twice. GSP was soundly defeated with a slick armbar, but I guess that doesn't mean anything either because it was only GSPs 3rd fight in the UFC. I could see that logic if it was his first. Riggs strength was supposed to match Hughes and his standup was supposed to be so much better, but he fell to a kimura. I could go on, but I'd just be belaboring the point.

To sum it up, there's no way in hell that Matt has been sitting on his ass for the last 2.5 years not improving his game. He learned his lesson the first time.

I can't wait till this weekend, I think it's gonna be a good one.
im not saying he hasnt stepped it up at all, im just saying Matt doesn't appear to be much of a different fighter now. maybe a better striker and submission guy. there are also a lot of people not giving BJ a chance in hell either and thats just wrong! St. Pierre was still very inexperienced when he fought Matt and Riggs should have never been the one picked to replace Karo. he is nowhere near Matt's level and everyone knows it. Matt's most impressive win was against Royce...i'll give him that, that was an ass whooping! note: i remember how disappointed i was watching that fight, i wanted to cry LOL. Saturday is gunna be awesome! im gunna miss it, but will be ordering the webcast when i get home!!! can't wait to see that fight!

I've said from the beginning Hughes will dominate in the later rounds because BJ will gas.

Hughes is a freak. I can't see BJ stopping him this time.

Hughes wins, there won't be a rematch anytime soon. Hughes loses, he will get the rematch after the GSP v Penn fight. That's my 2 cents.

im picking hughes, mainly because i am still pissed about gsp not fighting. that was gonna be a kick ass fight and i think fate will have its way and that will be the next fight. not taking anything away from penn but i agree hes gonna run outta gas and matt is gonna take advantage of it.

First off, let me say that I think Matt is going to win the fight against BJ, but I certainly wouldn’t be surprised if BJ pulled it off. And second I have to disagree with Matt having improved that much. Let’s take a realistic look at his opponents. Renato Verissimo (His record is 5-4, obviously not much of a threat) Then came a green GSP ( It was a impressive win for Matt because he was losing that fight and came back, but I think you can chalk that lose up more to GSP’s mental state, then Matt’s skill. Reversing a Kimura is slick but it’s not amazing) And then you have Trigg and Rigg’s (who are B and C level fighters at best) And then finally Royce (I love Royce, but against someone like matt it obviously wasn’t going to be a very competitive fight) Now I will give credit where it’s due and I think matt is a great champion (worthy of legends status when he leaves) but his last opponents have not been top competition, that’s just fact.

As some have mentioned Koscheck's name...

How the hell would Koscheck get a shot? He is a horrible fighter and should not even be fighting.

UFC must be a joke if they give koscheck a title shot.

Hughes loses, he'll be waiting a very long time for another shot...after GSP and the TUF 4 winner!

if bj loses, which he probably will, then gsp should get the next shot, and the best thing for bj to do would be to go down to 155 and claim the lw belt, which he probably could beat everybody down there including pulver, sherk, and kenflo.

I'd like to see a rematch ,but I think the loser will have to earn it first.
