Kudos to Heath Herring, YYYEEEHHHAAA!!!

How strange ... Herring DOMINATED the standup, whereas the ground game was back and forth. Good victory for Herring. Hopefully now that both (an improved) Kongo and Gonzaga have once again lost to former Pride fighters, people will stop trying to say that Cro Cop just wasn't up to par with the UFC's talent pool or whatever.

I think Kongo would have dominated the stand up, he chose to try and beat a superior ground fighter at his own game and that was stupid. IMO, if Kongo kept standing Herring would have been KO'd.

I think Herring worked harder when he was controlling on the ground.Kongo is gonna hurt breathing tomorrow

It seemed like after the first punch Kongo was the one afraid to stand and trade. Ironically, the take downs are what led to his undoing b/c he kept getting swept.

Herring's win puts the UFC HW div in an interesting spot. It seemed obvious that a win for Kongo would have put him up for the title, but I can't see the UFC putting on Herring/Nog IV.

Hopefully this will lead to the UFC ponying up for AA b/c they fucking need him. AA vs Nog please.

How did AA fare didnt he fight?

From what I have read he had some good sprawls when Blanket tried to take him down, and in the 2nd rd AA took Blanket down, got the mount, and pounded him out rather easily.

Round 1
O'Brien shot right away for a single, which was stuffed By Arlovski. Three more times O'Brien dropped levels for a takedown, all of which were unsuccessful. On his fourth attempt, Arlovski stumbled while sprawling, which allowed O'Brien to hop on top. Arlvoski was active from the bottom, opening a cut on the forehead of O'Brien with a sharp elbow strike from his back. 10-9 Arlovski.

Round 2
O'Brien's early shots were stuffed in the second round, but he eventually got Arlovski to the canvas. The former heavyweight champion bounced back up and performed a body-lock takedown directly to the mount. From here, Arlvoski blasted away with punches until referee Mark Matheny stepped in to halt the contest at the 4:17 mark of round two.

After the fight they didn't have Rogan interview AA, which some saw as a slap in the face, but according to people who were there live, the producers were scrambling around, worried about time, which is why Okami didn't get interviewed either.

There are rumblings on the UG that the UFC is going to re-sign AA, so let's hope it's true.

Kongo got oustruck repeatedly. He was going for takedowns AFTER he was rocked in the standup It's not like he just went for the ground because he wanted to show off. At least 3 of Kongo's takedowns came right after Herring had him knocked down or backing up on the feet. I saw Kongo's standup advantage as being minor before the fight, so it's really no surprise to me that Herring could oustrike Kongo after how he performed against Nog and training with one of the greatest kickboxers ever.

Beating CC really isn't all it's cracked up to be, lol. It just makes you overrated it seems.
