This is a technique that is used in almost every fight that hits the ground. It's been used since the inception of BJJ and I'm sure long before that, seeing that Hendo isn't even a BJJ guy.lol IMO it is an effective tool that restricts the opponent from getting air, same as a choke. No shame in that. | Yeah, it's a totally common thing to do. It's available as a technique and it frustrates the opponent. It's not like you're going to put someone to sleep doing it. In lieu of other options it is a way of trying to remain active or transitioning into a better position/strike, etc, IMO.

Wtf Hendo! | I do believe a contributing factor to him giving up his back was that he was "dazed." His word not mine.
I was impressed to see the Anderson dealt with it very effectively, especially considering for long Henderson did it.

It's completely fair and can be a very effective tool if used right. There is no rule in the UFC stating that interfering or disrupting with an opponents breathing is illegal.

It's legal so I have no problem with it. I see it as being smart and using the available rules to help you win a fight.

(sarcasm) | Yeah in his defense he was rocked I guess I'm just a little bitter but I think he should have realized he shouldn't be bangin with Anderson in the first place. Anderson couldn't stop his takedowns and that's where Hendo should have kept it, I don't think Hendo would have got submitted if he would have stuck to a better game plan.

I had this done to me in a grappling tournament when I first started out. I didnt know it was legal and I kinda flipped out and almost threw a punch at the guy lol. Afterwards I found out it was legal and I said what the hell and added to my ground game lol
