Fitch is a good fighter and has more tools then Koscheck... GSP will be taking his record to the ground with him if he wants to grapple with Fitch...

That last part was a joke, but the only way I see Karo getting his shot is to either take it from Fitch or he'll have to fight twice more before he gets his chance, and the last time he did that he got jobbed against Sanchez.

this should be a good fight whether against serra or gsp [hopefully gsp]
vs serra i dont really know what to expect. i know serra is damn good when hes got cardio so will see if he trains extra hard now that hes champ. well see if and elevated his game to the next level. prediction, unknown.
my guess vs gsp. gsp takes fitch down and gnps him. also gsp's subs looked really slick and good against hughs so well see how he matches up with fitch. in all honesty i think gsp is better at imposing his bjj game due to better wrestling. fitch is a more decorated wrestler, but gsps wrestling has looked a lot more impressive in mma. also its pretty obvious to me, gsp has a lot better and more dynamic standup.
to me fitch has looked a lot smaller then his first few fights at 170. he looks a lot skinniier
fitch usually beats his opponents by out-muscling them and wearing them out. something i dont think he can do to gsp. fitch is at the top of the division and i wouldnt be suprised if gsp cant finish him. gsp by decision.

Fitch is the kind of guy who studies his opponents, adapts his training to them and set up a game plan for them.
The only time he looked bad was against an unknown Chris Wilson who was called in short notice for Akihiro Gono. Fitch trained to fight Gono not Wilson and he looked bad because of that. And whats a better gameplan than lay and praying a really tough Diego Sanchez. Nothing wrong with lnping when your streak toa title shot is on the line. Gsp did it too against kos.
Put him up with a big name like GSP, Serra, Hughes or Karo he can adapt his game to them much better due to all the videos and xp (koschkeck fought gsp).
I still give Fitch, the best chance and more to beat GSP in the WW div rite now.

Perhaps King Dana went on the internets and read what everyone was saying, and changed his mind. If that’s the case, how about we all get together and let ourselves be heard: GIVE THE HEAT HIS FUCKING SHOT YOU BASTARD. I like Jon Fitch, but you take a look at the guys Karo has fought and the guys Fitch has fought and it’s not even debatable: Karo has fought the harder competition, and for the most part has looking fucking great doing it. If it wasn’t for his debatable decision loss to Diego Sanchez, he’d be the one on an insane streak. The guy is 8-1 since his loss to GSP back in 2004.
Anyways, I’m not blind to the reasoning. Karo’s record shows a big nasty list of decisions … the guy can’t finish a sandwich let alone a fight for some reason. But right up till the Chonan fight, that was 15 minutes of ass-kickery every time Parisyan stepped into the Octagon. The dude’s a bad ass, he’s got a win over the current champion, and he took GSP to a decision the first time they fought.
This is all so fucking frustrating to me. Karo Parisyan has been waiting for his title shot since the dawn of fucking time. Just give the dude his shot, already.
In the post-UFC 82 press conference, UFC President Dana White confirmed that Fitch would be next in line for a title shot once “this whole Matt Serra and Georges St. Pierre thing gets figured out.” Those two fighters headline an April 19 event in Canada.
I would like to Fitch vs. GSP next regardless of the title |
hell yea dude. karo deserves the shot more than fitch. sure karo has a shit load of decision victories, but fitch isn't "king stoppage" himself. if anything, pit the two against each other in a good ole "title elimenator."

Although I like Dana and think he has done a lot of great things with the sport, holding up the title with the damn reality show caused this whole problem. I really wish they would have Karo/Fitch on a card instead of them fighting non-contenders. From a business viewpoint though, there will be some good title fights coming for some time.

He signed on to fight gono on January 10th... and Gono was out on January 19th. Those 9 days of training for gono screwed up his training? Give me a break... Fitch fought a bad fight because Wilson made him. Wilson fought really well and it caught Fitch off guard... there should be no excuses for that.

I would like to Fitch vs. GSP next regardless of the title | I agree totally. since when does a boxersize instructor pick who fights for a title? it's pathetic on the UFC's part to allow this sort of behaviour from Dana. How is an organization supposed to be get in the mainstream when they have a foul mouthed, name calling, barbaric guy like Dana as their spokesperson, ceo, promoter, boxer....celebrity fighter and decision maker...NO WONDER HBO want's nothing to do with him!
Lastly...I think they should ALWAYS have a number one contender match to choose who fights for the title! That way Dana can't go back on his word! A win is a win....it's that simple in other SPORTS! whether you win 10 -0 or 1 nothing in over time, it's a win!
decision or knockout it SHOULD be considered the same! Dana has gone back on his word regarding title fights all the time based on a BORING fight.
How to rectify this:
If a fighter is promised a title fight in the future and wins by decision in order to secure the title fight the winning fighter must do something totally outragreous for entertainment value so it's not boring. once his hand is raised the fighter should have HIS ENTIRE CAMP run into the ring with streamers and party hats and noise makers while screaming That's for the TITLE SHOT DANA! we did it! that would be entertaining!
OR simply once you get your post fight interview with Rogan immediatelly Tell the crowd that a victory here tonight ensures yout title shot jsut like Dana promised and thank Dana for the TITLE shot and being a stand up guy!

Dana needs to stop telling people they are next in line for the belt. I thought Karo was next?

I just want this debate to end. Fitch has earned it. Karo has earned it, but Fitch has the fans and the win over Sanchez. Get over it.
In reality, Fitch is in a lot of trouble. I think that if GSP beats Serra, he'll be on a different level. GSP handled Kos's wrestling rather easily and Fitch is not Koscheck on the mat.
