| Barnett comments of Yoshida Fight Quote:
How was the fight?
It was everything I expected. I knew what kind f fighter he was. Weve trained and practiced together many times and weve submited each other in practice. He fought really hard. Hes very strong physicallt so It wasnt easy to do some of the things I wanted to do. I thought we gave some good examples of our technique. I used a little more ground and pound than I wanted to use but hes a real tough guy so if you dont make him react your job is going to be much harder. He (Yoshida) knows the leg game, all the chokes and all the arm locks. He isnt going to get caught in something, infact, I dont think anyone has ever subbed him in MMA.
Did you enjoy the fight?
I did. It was a fight and were both professional but its difficult to have to punch your friend really hard like that. I know I hit him a few times on the ground and I did hurt him but thats fighting. Even on the feet he wanted to throw big hooks and wild punches. I didnt really want to do that kind of game. I wanted to make it more of a wrestling match and keep things on the ground but a fight is a fight and we both understand the rules and nothing could be helped.
Whats next for Josh Barnett?
Icing my injuries and after I recover Im looking to fight in Sengoku ar wherever else. I gotta stay sharp. On April 12th in Osaka I have the Inoki Genome Federation (pro wrestling). I saw Naoya Ogawa san sitting at ringside and he left before I could tell him whats going to happen to him.there will be no friendly hand shake. He will be my enemy. It will be different from tonight.
I also want to help push Sengoku forward.
Do you feel you missed any chances tonight?
Maybe there were some chances missed but Yoshida san is very strong and a good grappler so hes not going to give many oportunities to submit him easily. Maybe I could have used pound techniques but I wanted to show catch wrestling and thats more skillfull than pounding someones brains in. Tonight was more about technique.
Would youlike to fight Randleman or Roger Gracie?
Ive known Randleman for a long time. Hes a friend so it would be like fighting Yoshida san again. You dont want to fight your friends but of course were professional so it cant be avoided. If you fight your friend youll fight harder out of respect.
Regarding Roger Gracie, anyone would want to fight a Gracie. Its a great name. Hes got a great resume for grappling. As a fighter hes young, untested and inexperianced but I dont think hes a weak guy. I think he would give a good fight. The Gracie name is what it is for a reason.

He's so great for the sport. I really wish he was in the UFC.

He would definitely strengthen the mix of competition. It would be nice if Dana let up on his grudge a bit.

He doesn't think anyone has subbed Yoshida? Hasn't he been subbed 3 or 4 times? Maybe my memory is off but I think I'm correct.

Nah 3 Decision Losses, 1 Tko and well 1 Submission, but it was due to Mirko's Giant legs beating on him.

barnett is a classy guy. we may never see him in the UFC again. And thats his choice. First he loves fighting in japan, and he doesn't like the UFC. Dana doesn't have an issue with him (its amazing, i know) Dana has said and was quoted many times (espeically during the Pride buyout) that he would welcome josh back.
we all know that aside from couture barnett is the only other big name heavyweight that isn't signed to the ufc fedor should fight. and many of us have said myself included that barnett may have the best chance of beating fedor.

Before the new owners, the UFC was not testing for anything. The roid he was popped for has an extremely long half-life. It is possible that he stopped when he was told that he had to, but the stuff was still in him. I am not saying that this is the case, just a possibility.
If you need explanation on why he would juice, you don't know much about steriods.
