I think it would have been a huge boost for mma as a whole, but none of the hardcore fans would be satisfied with the amatures and watered down rules that would probably be used. It's still cool to hear that mma is becoming very mainstream, I think the fact that mma was considered for the olympics is a big step towards silencing the critics

| Great Idea...
I agree with the whole bringing in amatuers to fight that way we still get to watch our sport and find new talent. There is probably no way that either organization will risk any of their fighters in the chance that they might get beat or possibly injured. But it would do wonders for the sports popularity and respect would more likely be given to the athletes and the sport. I don't see how anyone would rather watch cheerleading over mma, but I guess I'm not everyone. I think every fan should pull for everything like this that we can so our fighters and our sport can grow and become better... |

git. | i totally agree. but what i never understood about the olympics is just about everything is reserved for amateurs, but basketball is full of millionaire NBA players. doesn't make any sense to me.
also, MMA in the olympics wouldn't even be much of a stretch seeing as how they already have wrestling, judo, taekwondo and boxing. i don't watch the olympics so i don't know if these are watered down, but i can really see MMA working out really nicely in the olympics.

I can't see them adding MMA to the olympics any time soon, but it would be nice to see BJJ added to the games. That is a much more possible addition to the olympics, especially since the competitors would be able to compete more often and you would get a lot of talented guys like Marcelo Garcia and Marcio Feitosa competing.

I think MMA should be added to olympics, it's as legitimate sport as boxing, judo, wresling etc.

(the guys just living a sheltered life)
to the regular guy theres not much diff between judo and jj, why have both.
