even though the thread starter is making a joke with a completely ridiculous source if you guys bothered to read it, its an interesting idea
this would not be a high caliber of fighter though, if the Olympics only permitted amateur fighters. amateur fighters are simply looking to go pro. not many extremely talented guys training in a sport where he can face career ending injuries in every fight will throw away the shot for fame and money to go to the olympics.
for many years, if only amateurs were allowed, the talent level would be very mediocre.
plus it takes too long to get ready for one MMA fight, and there are too many injuries for them to be allowed to fight multiple times in the weeks that the Olympics take place.
tae kwon do guys in the olympics fight several times every day. i think the same happens for Judo.
but something i would like to see in the Olympics is submission wrestling. there's judo, wrestling, sambo, but no submission wrestling. any style, whether its japanese JJ, BJJ, judo, sambo, etc.
you could have gi and no gi, similar rules as the ones used at all big time competition like the Mundials, Cope de Mundo and Abu Dhabi
i think that submission wrestling being put into the olympics would at least work as one step towards MMA perhaps being allowed in there.

ever heard of the nfl euro league, they have cheerleaders. i know in international hockey they have the cheerleaders spread throughout the crowd, in the aisles. alot of other countries are starting to catch the u.s. in basketball, they must have them. do you go to alot of live sporting events?. maybe i'm completely wrong, but doubt it. hockey for sure, i've seen it.

MMA amatures going into the olympic's could work safely and without too much injury. Just allow headgear, and I think it's called shin guards. Now that I think about it IDK how headgear would work when there are so many subs that work on the head but still. I say militich fighting systems would train the american team and we kick ass.

You mean there's somewhere else that has sport.
You forgot Australia, Mexico, and South America.

| I think your wrong there. Going to the Olympics would be the best thing for them to do. How much more famous can you get than winning a gold medal. They u can command the big bucks for such a feat when going pro.
Also not every amateur is looking to go pro.

So I have no Idea what the original source says but if it is a joke like you said ...hahaha I fell for it hook line and sinker.

and i have no prob living in canada, toronto is often described by other canadian cities as the center of the country(sarcasm). alot of times some americans think that america is the center of the universe.
