What Chuck does is illegal though lol

The cage for sure....the fighters are either stood up or dragged to the center of the ring way to much.....it usually happens MORE than 2 times a fight, and takes WAY longer than a couple of seconds....I've seen re-starts taking as much as 25-30 seconds.............

The restarts totally kill the excitement and momentum of a fight.

ring easily, its less room to stall or run away. but i think it shouldnt be Pride formatted ring, theres no need for the assholes on the sides disrupting the fight by feeling up on the fighter when theres no need. they should adopt the vale tudo style rings, they had net on the bottom which allowed for room to move, without the need of people on the side

I was really trying to ask if the ring would add more legeitimacy, rather than asking about personal preference. When it comes down to it, I say my overall preference would be a ring, a ring slighlty bigger than normal to prevent running and stalling like LA said.

i have always thought a ring would be more excepted and depending on how it is rigged the stalling could be limited. no matter what ring you are in it is a much fairer arena. it doesnt allow the guy on top to use the cage and if he knows what hes doing negate the sub attempts. but the stopages are limited and overall the ring is much better IMO

Kass - I'm not arguing about the rope/cage grabbing, what I'm saying is that it's a natural reaction to reach out a grab something when you lose your stability. However wrapping an arm around a rope when in a clinch to avoid a takedown or to gain an advantage is different. It happens constantly in Pride, I can't remember the last time I saw a fighter grab the top of the octagon to avoid a takedown.

Second point, I'm sorry but I'm not with you at all concerning the restarts. It may only happen a few times in a round, but it often takes a lot longer to reposition the fighters & restart than a few seconds. You can also get instances like the Ryan Gracie farce, when he disagreed with the position the ref was putting them back into & it all kicked off.

As far as saying fighting in a ring makes the sport more legitimate, again I don't see a difference, after all this is mma not boxing. Why not fight on a mat like judo, bjj, wrestling etc?

As I said I prefer the cage (incidently the UFC are not the only people to use it!), but have no objection to the ring.
