The point of him getting back in the ring so quickly after the loss to Silva was for confidence. Critical in the fight game. | You make a good point about Leben having some decent wins, but I think you understate the one-dimensional way Leben fights. He is a striker, but not a precise one, who doesn't seem to possess any other great strengths. If he fights another guy in the Anderson Silva range of talent, I think the results will be much the same.

Leben is a fighter, not a mixed-martial artist
he goes out there and gives you a street fight, but hey it works for him cant knock the guy for that he only has 2 loses on his record but he doesnt have the talent to beat any Top 10 fighter, much less be champion unless he starts becoming a versitile fighter.

i felt bad for him, he was on a huge role and was very impressive, until he got ktfo by silva. but he did come back with an impressive knockout and might build himself up and might face a top fighter in the future and we'll see if he has improved. could that be the same thing that will happen to swick today? he is on a huge impressive role, even more impressive then lebans, has ended his fights very decisive and fast, but hasnt faced a tought top condender like david louisasso. it could very well be the same for swick. if franklin beats silva which he probably wont and swick loses to louisasso the who does the ufc throw at franklin?

He'll still get some wins because he'll always be a brawler and connect with a punch or two from time to time. But I honestly dont even think he'll even get a title shot before his career is over (and honestly, I hope he does change and proves me wrong but I dont see it happening).

The fact that Leben got hit, closed his eyes and swung as hard as he could and was lucky to connect kinda pissed me off. Leben says his strategy is to get punched and then punch back... That's about the dumbest thing I've ever heard. It's not like Liddell who AVOIDS getting hit hard then counter punches. Leben takes shot directly to the dome and then just swings wildly. He'll never get anywhere in the ranks using that strategy he'll just get Silva'd everytime he fights someone good.

But i'll give credit where credit is due and Leben pulled out the win. But it was just another lucky punch (and not the kind of "lucky punch" that Liddell uses ).

Funny thing is...when Leben was first on TUF, I knew of him as a wrestler. The only fight I'd seen him in he won by submission. So when he comes off on the show as this pure striker.....
Don't know if the dude has just decided he likes to bang and isn't using his wrestling. Don't know if he's continuing to develop his ground game either. Lately that seem to be a trend because they want to "give the fans a good show." Being smack dab in the middle of wrestling country, you can guess how I feel about that trend.
