MMAPayout.com has received unconfirmed reports that Golden Boy Promotions has walked away from a rumored promotional partnership with Affliction Clothing due to control issues. Affliction's promotional effort has made a splash in the industry this year, reportedly signing several high profile free agents to lucrative contracts with large signing bonuses in addition to potentially working with Oscar De La Hoya's Golden Boy Promotions.
It should be noted that MMAPayout.com has been unable to confirm the reports at this time. As a result, the above report should be considered rumor or informed speculation at best. It also bears mentioning that business situations such as this one are very fluid and can change quickly.
Generally MMA Payout is pretty reliable so they will probably be working to confirm the truthfulness of this. The only thing Affliction really had going for them was Golden Boy's Money/HBO relationship. Without them I can't see Affliction getting very far as an MMA org.
Yea, Golden Boy's HBO relationship and their experience with events had the hint of legitimacy and expertise - not to mention the Golden Boy himself and his popularity and name recognition. I wonder how things will pan out now.

That could definitely hurt them. I could see, though, them hooking up with another big name promotion and moving in. They're pretty hot right now and a lot of big names are supporting them.

Dana White was right. these Org's start up with so much buzz but they never last. I truely believe that the UFC and maybe elite will be the only two bigger Org's standing for the long run.

I'm willing to bet that the UFC had nothing to do with this, in fact I think it's far more likely that the Elite - CBS partnership scared them off.
