Hughes' days are numbered. He has shown tremendous vulnerability against both Penn and St. Pierre. I don't see him surving Pierre and then Sanchez. If somehow he gets by Pierre, then Diego has the wrestling and cardio to go 5 rounds with him. Hughes doesn't have the skill I thought, in fact he really does only a few things well and needs his muscle to do so. It is very good that he has strong cardio, because he doesn't have the skill I would expect. What do you think would happen if Hughes actually fought people stronger then him, like in the 185 or 205 class? I guarantee things would be different!

I agree with most of you that Matt needs to work on his standup which has always been a thorn in his side. I like Matt but he proved to be a great champion by not tapping in that armbar or triangle. Skills and cardio don't do it alone. Heart, gentlemen! HEART! On that night Matt had it. I like Penn alot but the very thing that Matt said would beat Penn did. His confidence. Penn did not train for a 5 rounder because he thought he could beat Matt with the standup.

We all know that someone out there is going to take Matt out. When, Where, or Who? It's debatebul. GSP possibly, if he took in what he learned about Matt at this fight. Sanchez. This kid is not hyped up and he has a lot of heart. Penn could have at UFC 63, but I think he was looking past Matt. Diaz. This kid is hungry again.

Gentlemen this division and the lightweight division just may have the the most fireworks in the next few years.

if Penn doesnt have a fire under his ass to come conditioned and fired up for this next fight, i'll never consider him a threat to Hughes or GSP

and i cant wait for whoever is champ to fight Diego. we'll get a chance to see Diego cry

So, since GSP was *going* to fight Hughes in UFC63 -do you think he has next "rights" to Matt Hughes, or does he have to go thru Diego Sanchez first?

P.S. Some of you guys are awful disrespectful to Matt, he's defended against some of the best and come out on top. You penalize him for poor stand up, then make excuses for his great aerobic capabiltity.
*shrugs*

+1

Matt is dominate and has fought the competition and beat everyone. Blah blah blah... he doesn't have good stand-up... blah blah blah. Give the guy some credit.
