people need to understand that hughes got totally dominated his last 2 fights with gsp and for this reason he simply stated that he has about 4 fights left in him....he was mentally broken down...
he realizes that guys like gsp who are naturally gifted athletes and are much better mma fighters are coming up and theres not gonna be enough room for him since he has no stand up and relies only on his wrestling and GNP
look at rich franklin and anderson silva....same situation as hughes and gsp
as far as serra goes...i think hes gonna get destroyed tomorow and fight hughes and get his ass pounded on his back...that may actually be the end of his career after that...since he admitted his school is doing much better since he became champion he will retire losing both those fights just to keep face

I think you need to calm down lol. I don't even like Serra, I hope GSP is going to wreck him tomorrow. I said that Hughes is on the decline and he knows it and has stated it. Hughes in his prime would eat Serra for breakfast. But Hughes is not in his prime.. he is at the end of his career.
Serra is not a complete can, regardless of how much I dislike him. Right now, even though I like Hughes much more, he would probably lose to Serra. Hughes's body has been breaking down for quite some time. It happens after almost 50 fights.
By the way, guys like B.J. Penn and Karo Parisyan are not "weak ass dudes".
Fantastic... too bad we can't take 3 years off of Hughes's life. Kind of a meaningless point. |
It's also meaningless for you to point that out. The purpose of these forums is for people to state their opinion. Why jump all over someone for stating that opinion. I know Hughes is on the decline and won't last but one more fight. I said exactly that. But I also know that if Hughes was younger, the last 2 GSP fights may have been different. My meaningless point was to point out to people that Matt Hughes isn't just some punk that GSP rolled over the last 2 fights. Look at Wanderlei. I wouldn't call him a punk because he got rolled his last 3 fights. When fighters decline, it's natural. It comes with getting punched in the head for a living. Quote:

When Serra stopped fighting at 155, Rogan said he lost a lot of power. Recently I recall Serra saying he wouldn't cut again because he loves food too much.
If he loses, I see him staying at WW and having some good fights. He will fight Hughes of course, and after that he can avenge his loss to Karo.

No spaces or any type of separation... then you are leaving a reader to believe that you think the two are related... rather than a separate thought.
So, if you were just making a general statement, then fine, I'm sorry... but you made it like "Serra cannot beat Hughes because 3 years ago, GSP now would have gotten dominated."
It isn't my fault you were not clear.

IMO serra didnt land A good punch, he hit GSP with 5-6 bombs, and dropped him 3 times and then just pounded him out. Serra had great kick defense, and totaly out striked GSP. It was a clear domination by Serra. Also who cares he was 6-4, like its always stated your only as good as your last fight
Now I wanted serra to win the first fight but i never thought he would do it after seeing what GSP did to huges i honestly figured he didnt really have a chance and then he whooped GSP.
Once agian IMO I think the only way GSP will win this fight is to take matt down and try to pound him out, but even then serra has great BJJ so i dont see that as much of a chance.
Serra by TKO/KO 2nd round.
oh i forgot to say that if you want to see a good punch or lucky punch go watch the rampage/chuck fight. Rampage threw a hell of a right hand that chuck never saw comming, not that im complaning chuck beat a lot of guys that way, sometimes its just how the sport works |

First off, Serra will never drop to LW. He has said so repeatidly he loves his pasta way to much.
Second, if he were to lose, WW is so stacked there are still a ton of guys for him to face. I would guarentee he fights Hughes next if he loses, I think he wins that fight . Which with one more win could setup another title shot.
EDIT: also its funny how Randy is god after having a horrible HW record and winning the title. Hes now seen as one of the top guys, how come Matt doesnt get the same treatment?

If he loses he faces Hughes, even if he wins there is a good chance he faces Hughes. I would not be surprised at all if the UFC gave Hughes the title shot over Fitch, then the winner of Serra/Hughes would fight Fitch. Either way, he is going to fight Hughes.
Also, why do so many people think Serra would beat Hughes, even handily? What has he shown that he can beat Hughes? So he KOed GSP.... do you really think Hughes would stay standing with him... no he wouldn't. Serra has not shown in any of his fights that he has made a good transition from being a BJJ Black Belt to great off his back in an MMA fight. Because he is not great off his back in MMA, I think he has only submitted one person off his back and that submission started with Serra having the mount. Hughes is more then good enough to take Serra down and avoid his sub attempts on his was to a Uni. Decision or TKO in the 3rd. If Penn could not submit Hughes off his back, how do you think Serra is going to be able to?
