Oh then after he loses to Hughes, I see Dana doing the same thing he did with Hendo. Offering Serra a lot more money to cut to LW, I do not care how much he loves pasta. Serra is way better fitted for the LW division and there are some great match-ups for him.

Penn v. Serra II
Sherk v. Serra
Stevenson v. Serra
Franca v. Serra
Florian v. Serra

I am way more interested in those match-ups then say Karo v. Serra II or Sanchez v. Serra.

Ill take a 100% Matt Serra on his back over a Gassed BJ Penn.. not a good example at all, especially since Serra's BJJ skills arent far apart from BJ's.

I hear alot of people say BJ Penn gassed in the 2nd Hughes fight. I thought BJ said he tore cartilage in his ribs going for a submission at the end of the 2nd round and that screwed up his breathing. Am I right or wrong?

I won't not at all. Serra has submitted no one off his back, no one at all. At least Penn has came close or has submitted a few people or even hit a sweep. Serra on his back is not great. Now from being on top, Serra is a monster, but do you really think a guy with as bad as takedowns as Serra is about to take Hughes down? No he is not. Serra's best chance against Hughes would be for Hughes to fight stupid and stay standing with Serra. Even then though its not 100% Serra would KO Hughes or even win. Hughes is a horrible match-up for Serra because he can take him down at will and can avoid sub attempts.

Ok Serra and Penn are not far apart as far as BJJ goes. But as far as applying BJJ to MMA Penn is leap-years ahead of Serra. Penn hits sweeps, armbars, triangles, RNCs, Serra does none of that. Serra with all his BJJ behind him has what submitted one or two people and neither of them are even worth mentioning. Penn on the other hand has submitted Hughes, Pulver, Stevenson, Ludwig, Gomi, and probably one or two guys I am forgetting. So its easy to see that Penn has applied his BJJ skills a lot better to MMA then Serra.

IMO he'd beat Hughes, not dominantly but handily, and then the UFC brass have a great angle for Serra/GSP 3 if GSP beats Fitch.

At this point, though, I'm still too torn on this fight to make any concrete predictions.
I think you said it best. Now that the fight has ended and GSP reclaimed the title... Serra vs Hughes makes the most sense. Hughes wants to fight Serra, and Serra wants to fight the dick. I think Serra demolishes Hughes but hey what do I know.

GSP will fight Fitch, as Dana eluded to after Fitch's latest win. GSP runs through Fitch with relative ease, and maybe Alves after that. I am going to make a bold prediction now....

UFC 100 St. Pierre vs Serra III live from Madison Square Garden!!!!

After what you just saw, Serra getting wrestled down to and fighting off his back and laid on and pounded on, what makes you think Serra will destory Hughes. GSP was displaying vintage Matt Hughes in that fight and you have to know that Hughes will follow that game plan.

serra could not get up for more then 1/2 the fight. GSP just muscled him down all first round. and the small amount of time they spent ont he feet, gsp was winning.

it was total domination. i couldnt be happier.
