last night after watching hockey i was flipping through channels and got to a sports station called sportsnet, the program that was on at the time was a radio show broadcast called the fan 590, usualy they are good for hockey talk so i left it on, and guess what their topic is, mma, and what followed was the worst disscusion about mma ive ever heard, basically he started by saying he could have done his homework and learnt about mma and the fighters but frankly he doesnt give a flying fandoodle(his exact words) he proceeded to say that mma and its fans are punk kids who will flood his email about how he's wrong and this and that his guests said mma is just 2 white guys laying on top of each other and its nothing but a flavour of the month, they basically trashed mma for 10 minuits and then the station broadcasts a rerun of the ultimate fighter 3 which they've been showing for some time. how can the station allow they're reporters to bash a sport they are showing and more importantly how can these guys say they hate mma and don't understand why anyone likes it, when they started their show by saying they know nothing about it, it's the most rediculous thing i've ever heard, if your actually going to have a legit radio show and talk about something maybe you should get someone who's is informed on mma and could try and defend it, instead of 4 guys who know nothing yapping about how it's boring and won't be around in a year.

i say we flood sportsnet.ca with emails about how the fan 590 is totaly off and they should do another show on mma with a real mma guest and an informed panel

First of all, you were watching Sportsnet, not the Score.

Secondly, Bob McCown is like the Bill O'Reilly of sports broadcasting. He just says things that will get attention and dismisses pretty much anyone who disagrees with him. I wouldn't waste my time with him.

I'm sure they'd appreciate the controversy more than any valid opinion.

Anyone who thinks MMA is a flavor of the month is going to get proved wrong soon enough; with or without my help.




And I think most hate is based on a failure to understand.

That is a plain and simple people hate what they do not understand. They do not realize how much more technical it is then two guys standing in a ring punching eachother. I wouldn't even take it to heart people especially on ESPN and other sports news channels have been going on about this same load of shit since the first TUF. They are just pissed because poeple found something more interesting to view and take interest in then our fathers sports. Don't get me wrong I like all sports, but MMA is about passion and competition, its unique and that freaks them out how it is a perfect mix of all combats and they can't say what is best. They cant intelligently cover stories to a sport they do not know the dimensions of. My best advice is to let it go don't feed the fire.

Bill O'Reilly? I doubt 1 out of 100 people nationally have heard of Bob McCown. McCown is nobody and O'Reilly, like him or hate him is at the top of his game.
