| Win or Lose. What Does Tito Do After UFC 84?
With the sudden departure of so many UFC stars over the past several months, Couture, Sylvia, Cro Cop, and the free agency of others like Arlovski, there is one guy who has repeatedly said he won't resign with the UFC. I guess you could say, we see this one coming since it won't catch anyone by surprise. But with Tito, you never know what you are going to get. Win or lose, where does Tito go from here?
My opinion, he wins a close match with Machida and leaves for either Affliction or EliteXC. I would love to see some Affliction-Punishment Athletics clothing. Affliction seems to be the choice of many for an organization that hasn't even put on a fight yet. But with money already in their clothing line, they may actually have the startup capitol to survive where the others have failed. I do want to see Tito become a powerhouse again. After losing twice to Liddell and no big names to fight, people are saying he's lost a step. I beg to differ with that opinion but where is Tito going to end up after May 24. What type of celebration can we expect to see if Tito wins? It's actually exciting buildup for a fight that Tito didn't even want because he thought it wasn't "big enough." What's next for Tito Ortiz?

What's next for Tito after he beats Machida?
There's alot that could happen. But my best guess would be Elite. He could rematch Shamrock, dominate the ranks there, and make millions with relative ease in the process. I could also see him doing something with Affliction, but thats to early to tell.
I may also be alone here, but I think if he beats Machida(in a big way) Dana would likely up his pay,or try to meet some of his desires to get him to stick around. Dana knows Tito on PPV = buyrates, and if he does indeed beat Lyoto(whos ranked in manys top 5 or the LHW division) it puts Tito right back in the mix and into title contention.

He will probably not lose a fight for another 2 years.(After Lyoto, if he loses that one) | He may end up fighting on CBS but certainly not the first one. Or was that a joke that I didn't get.

I think it depends on if he wins and how he wins. If he wins in dominant fashion like the Tito of old, Dana will re-sign him that night. If he fights a boring fight and wins, he goes onto another promotion. If he loses but it was a great fight, ala Forrest/Bonnar, Dana will re-sign him. If he loses badly, he goes away. Dana is a smart man and knows that Tito puts asses in seats and if Tito can actually fight, and fight well, then Dana will keep him.

I wonder if EXC is actually going to be willing to meet Tito's money demands. Tito comes with a might high price tag and CBS isn't paying all that well for teh events

Man, it didn't take long for the answers to start pouring in. Tito=debate, Tito=asses in seats, Tito=buyrates. I think if Tito wins or loses, he leaves UFC. He's kind of like Rich Franklin. He beats everyone but the champ and was owned in his last 2 title fights. I think EliteXC needs a legit star and Tito gives them that. What would be better than Tito on CBS. I wonder if anyone knows whether ratings dipped after he was eliminated on the Apprentice. Wouldn't you have loved to see him GNP Trump?

If they paid Kimbo $200,000+ and Tank 125,000 just for one fight, and Tito is about twice the draw either of those two are,I think he could probably make 300 G's per fght, easy.

I don't think any matters with Tito. I think he is gone after this fight. I don't think Tito will be willing to re-sign.

Wouldn't you have loved to see him GNP Trump? | You have to remember that trends and opinions on here are not very good measurements to extrapolate out to a big picture. Hardcore fans only make up a small portion of the overall MMA/UFC fanbase and we tend to think rather differently than they do. So just because the people on here discuss Tito doesn't necessarily mean that the new fans are worried about him as much as it would seem. Quote:

I can't see Tito agreeing to take much less than his current pay.

I wouldn't be surprised if he just retired. His injuries are more serious than many make it out to be, plus he seems to be working the business end of the spectrum lately and doing well in the process. Let's just say he doesn't need to continue fighting to live comfortably.
