| Recognizing Serra's victory over GSP
I really am not find of Serra and I have actually come to like and admire GSP for his growth and ability to raise the bar. But the fact still remains that Serra did beat GSP in a clear, decisive manner. I don't subscribe to the lucky punch theory and truly beleive that on any given day, anyone can be beaten including Fedor, Silva, Penn GSP etc.
I'd like to see Serra develop and stay a constant just for the fact he accomplished what few could with GSP...however I still don't like him and would like to see Hughes school him some.
Respect where it is due..Serra got his then GSP roared back to take his back.

I do agree with you in theory. but 9 times out of 10 the fight ends the same way so I don't really think they need a rematch, unless it's down the road and Serra earns it.
I see Serra vs Hughes next, Hughes taking it, and then Serra disappearing.

Serra vs Hughes should be interesting...I think this will be a battle from begining to end.

I respect Serra an awful lot for what he was able to do, and I still see Hughes losing to him when they do fight. GSP was able to handle both of them pretty completely in the last few months, so I see a fight between Hughes and Serra being pretty even, with Serra getting the edge.
Still, neither one of them are going to continue to be a legit contender in the WW division. Even if we see a GSP/Serra 3, it'll be for the sake of a trilogy.

Serra is tough and i dont think Hughes can finish him. Hughes is on his way out IMO and i think Serra will win that fight. GSP KO'd and subbed Hughes, and i dont think he could do that to Serra.

"Serra over GSP rd 1 TKO."
Serra will disappear with Pete Sell and I wont care. He wont be missed by me. So many better fights in WW division and UFC dont need him.
SPOKEN, let it be done.

I don't get why Serra gets all the hate he does. While I'm not a fan of his I don't think he's all that bad for the UFC. His attitude isn't as bad as some other fighters.

I like Serra. i can understand that ppl think he's annoying but i just dont think so. i think he could have come up with some new material for hughes after the 30th "dick and/or egomaniac" comment but thats just being picky lol
anyway i think he takes hughes in a fight but i dont know if he'll get GSP again. but i do look forward to him fighting some new blood

His attitude isn't as bad as some other fighters. | For me it's a backlash to the over hype he's gotten in the last year by a few posters. Some people were making him out to be both the BJ Penn and Anderson Silva of the WW division -- vastly overestimating both his BJJ and striking. It was a nice win over GSP that he got last year but one win, especially a quick one, doesn't mean much. The reality was that Serra was very much an enigma last year. He had a history of losing tough fights to good/great fighters and had one decisive victory over a great fighter. One great win and a few decent losses (meaning they were close fights) doesn't give much information about a fighter.
I still think Serra is an enigma despite the convincing loss to GSP. A loss against a fighter the caliber of GSP doesn't mean much. Serra may be top 5 in the UFC or he may not even be top ten. I think a fight with Hughes will do much to clarify Serra's status.
