if penn was so badly hurt in the 2nd rd, he couldn't defend himself couldn't throw punches could barely breathe, wtf was he thinking, that he could still beat matt freakin hughes. fighters all the time recognize when they cant compete and do the smart thing and surrender horn/lidell,gracie/kimo, it does happen, its not like he came in hurt and gave it his best, matt injured and then finished him.
next fight same result.

facts still remain that Penn is the better striker, better JJ fighter, overall better on the ground, and still the ultimate mismatch for Hughes, Penn is just amazing in every category, he just needs better conditioning.. and he proved that hes a better fighter then Hughes in the first 2 rounds.. Hughes CANNOT take down a 100% BJ Penn he would have to wear him out to take him down thats been proven in both fights now, he cannot outstrike him, he definently cannot submit him, its the ultimate goal for Matt Hughes to take down BJ Penn and GnP when Penn is 100% but Matt still did a good job and won the fight FAIR AND SQUARE because Matt survived the first two rounds and took advantage of a hurt Penn, and got him in a situation where Penn couldnt get out of and finished the fight YOU GOTTA GIVE MATT HUGHES CREDIT, but honestly not much has changed.
So, without Penn's injury, do you still think that his pre-fight training (or lack thereof), that the outcome would have been any different? Penn didn't train seriously for the fight.....bottom line. Sure, Matt was having a tough go, but Penn got tired, injury or not. I'm not saying that Penn's giving excuses, but why did he wait until he got back home before anyone found out about the ribs?

Later.

It was rumered after the fight by alot of people but I didn't post it because it was conjecture. Like that guy saying GSP had a groin injury before it was public. And another thing Hurt ribs suck it totaly screws your form um you always have to hunch and keep your arms low you cant breath. It just plain sucks you fight with them. I got kicked so hard once I just couldnt breath anymore and that was just brused ribs let alone seperated.

The Ironman is on a distinguished road

Default Great fight!

I totally thought Bj dominated matt untill the 3rd round, it seems to make sense though, Ive never seen some get gassed that bad...he couldnt even keep his hands up or move his head from matt tee'n off on him. It really made for a great comeback on matts behalf after loosing the 1st rounds.... Woo hoo!..

Ahhh......thanks for clearing that up. I know that rib injuries hurt, and he was gutsy to suck it up and continue.
