OK guys. Is this really more valuable use of forum space than discussing original question.

I see Hughes beating Alves and Serra and retiring. In his whole career, there was only 1 guy that owned him and that was GSP. And that was an in his prime GSP against an aged and battled Hughes at the end of his game. We will have to see how GSP establishes himself as a repeat champ to see how the 2 legacies compare. You can't take anything away from Hughes because he lost to GSP twice at the end of his career.
I agree. Regardless of the results I think Hughes will retire after those 2 fight ( unless God forbid GSP gets injured and there is a chance to fight someone else for belt ).

We saw 3 fights between Hughes and GSP and I don't think that even Matt wants to fight him 4th time. He is one of my favorite fighters with great legacy but he stands no chance winning 4th match.

And he stands even less chance winning match against Silva.

Forgive me if offend, but I just don't see how much harder it is to spell out three-letter words.
listem man, i think the only one that is getting offended is you. and by something as little as @@@@@@@@@@@@@@. i have never been to an aol chat. in fact, this is the only chatroom that i have ever entered. (and probably the only one i ever will enter.)

so if you like to argue for the sake of arguing.....let's at least keep it about fights.

i agree. hughes has been really hesitent about stating what is next for him in the future. i see him coming away victorios in his next couple of fights and stepping down and leaving victourious as a legend. (at least i hope!!!)

hughes is gonna beat alves serra and then retire. if he were going to move up to mw and fight anderson silva i think he will do a lot better then a 4th time against gsp because anderson silva has like no wrestling when compared to gsp. id def pay to see hughes vs silva but i really really doubt its gonna happen

i wouldnt even say matt hughes is out of his prime just yet. he was dominated in his last fight w/ gsp but come on, it was against gsp, a man who's dominated all his opponents recently...no shame there. anyone thing thiago alves is going to dominate matt hughes? i dont. anyone think matt serra could possibly dominate him? i doubt it. the only one in the division i could see doing it is gsp and alot of great fighters have dealt with this in the past. chuck liddell is dealing with it now (you can make the argument he can knock anyone out at 205 on any given day, but rampage has his number). i think with the exception of gsp, i think hughes can probably beat anyone in the welterweight division.

If he moves up to fight Anderson, I think that fight would be a 180 reversal of the Hughes/Gracie fight, and end badly for Matt.

If Matt beats Alves and Serra, and Fitch beats GSP, I see him forgoing Silva and fighting Fitch.

I actually agree with this. I think that Hughes would be a complete moron to try to stand with Silva, so that fight will go to the ground. I think Hughes could probably take down Anderson, but I don't see him taking down GSP. Then it would be a matter of how how fast Silva stands up or submits Matt. I think GSP has a huge mental edge over Hughes now. It showed in fight #3. Matt had no clue what to do. He seemed to have pretty much conceded the 'L' before the fight happened.

For his own sake Anderson needs to STAY in the back oh Hughes mind. He shouldn't even try fighting Silva.
