Gsp Is The Man And I Do Believe Come Fight Night With Hughes He Will Walk Away With The Ww Belt |
GSP was not even close to right on. Anytime you beat someone like BJ Penn it is impressive. BJ is one of the best fighters in the world, in any organization. To beat someone like that anytime is impressive. You don't get style points in fights, but even if you did, BJ looked much worse at the end of the fight.
Secondly, GSP had much more trouble with BJ then Matt. GSP was beaten to a bloody pulp for a round and a half, where as Matt was never really physically hurt early in the fight (although Matt did lose the first 2 rounds).
Matt finsished BJ in dominating fashion in round 3; where as GSP got a couple of take downs but never finsished BJ in round 3, then GSP got a gift from the judges. Matt didn't leave it up to the judges. If GSP was not impressed with Matt's win, then he must feel humiliated by his fight with BJ.
I like GSP, but he said wasn't even close to right on.

GSP is awesome but leave trash talking to guys with a grudge or fighters of a lower caliber who have to hype a fight in order for people to watch. Not these guys, their next fight could be one of the greatest anyones ever seen, why ruin it by acting like a pro wrestler... |

I like GSP, but he said wasn't even close to right on. | how can you say gsp had more trouble with bj than matt...matt was almost choked out and almost had his arm broken and could barely score 2 takedowns then whole fight.
gsp got hit right on the nose which is the only reason he was a bloody mess but gsp was never in the trouble that matt was against bj...
i guess i wanst so impressed. i thought matt would do way better but instead he was dominated for 2 rounds and almost finished where as gsp was never close to being finished int he fight with bj ans was not dominated wat so ever...

I believe GSP was asked to say it, it sounded rehearsed. Didn't sound like he meant it. Besides GSP is classy fighter and very humble ...no reason to think anything less of him.

BJ did not have his legs deep enough to choke Matt out. After the fight Matt even said he was not worried at all about the choke because BJ's legs were around his mouth not his neck, he was more worried about defending the arm bar. Yet even the arm bar wasn't close because Matt had his arm out with 13 seconds to go in the round.
GSP got hit plenty more than one time in the first round and a half of his fight with BJ. Also, GSP could not finish BJ. GSP won a very controversial decision over Penn and in my opinion got a gift. But nonetheless it was a controversial decision. People can make all the excuses they want for why GSP couldn't finsih BJ Penn while Matt could. The fact is Matt did finish BJ which makes his win way more impressive than GSP's. No excuses, Matt just finished the fight.
As I said before. if GSP wasn't impressed with Matt's fight with BJ, then he must be completely humiliated by his fight with BJ. GSP being so "unimpressed" is even worse considering 1) Matt has already finished him in a fight, and 2) he was the one who pulled out of the fight with Matt this time (despite his reasons).
There is an old saying that says "it's not the critic that counts." GSP should keep that in mind. People can think whatever they want about whether Matt Hughes is cocky or talks trash himself, because the bottomline is Matt is 42-4 and has beaten everyone put in front of him and there is no denying that. He has not ducked anybody, and most of his fights have not gone to the judges. GSP on the other hand is running his mouth about a man who has not only beaten him, but also finshed the man whom GSP could not finish himself.

They've worn me out on this topic so I'm glad to see someone articulate carrying on.
