| TUF not so TUFF
I watch The Ultimate Fighter, I’m not a huge fan of it, but I do try and catch it (mainly just because of the fights) but I’m not really liking the this seasons concept....the winner getting a title shot. It seems like it's going to throw a wrench into all the current contenders chance at a shot. I don't like the idea of someone beating a bunch of miscellaneous fighters on a show and then all the sudden getting a shot at the title. It seems unfair to the fighters currently fighting in the UFC who have worked their way up the ranks. The guys on the show now aren't the best fighters, they are there because they lost, so I don't see how being the best of the worst grants you a title shot. A lot of the guys are good fighters and are tuff guys, but automatically getting a title shot seems absurd. Anyone agree?

i kinda of agree, the show has been great for attracting fans but i think the winner should atleast have to beat the top contender to get the title match

I agree. That being said, a TON of people are coming to watch the UFC and MMA in generally as a direct result of the TUF seasons. Its a easy way for a person that got into watching the UFC, for free on Spike, to get sucked into to paying for their first PPV to watch the guys they have been learning about get a title shot. Its all marketing to the uneducated audience.

That's true, it does give great exsposer, but at the same time the UFC saturates cards with TUF'ers and to the educated fan that's lame. I don't dislike TUf but i guess you have to take the good with the bad.

Maybe I'm just different. I don't have a problem with it. If they actually beat the champ in their weight class then kudos for them and the top contenders are still the top contenders and will get their shot at the new champ.

its a good idea because new fans, that started watching because of the show are basically getting a 6 week history lesson..now they know the new guys..and some of the vets..it creates well rounded fans..the fights have been better imo...which is the more important thing..i think the show seem s stale because we arent really getting to know these guys..cuz we know these guys..and there isnt alot of bullshit..cuz they are already fighters...i dont know about the title shot thing..but i guess it creates some new contenders..and puts a couple more guys back into the rotation in two of the best weight divisions..we cant have to many good fighters imo..and the ones that suck shit are def done after this so its a kills two birds with one stone..

Yeah and it's not like these guys have overall losing mma records. The majority of them are seasoned vets, who just had unfortunate luck in the UFC. Pete Spratt at one point beat Robbie Lawler and was offered a shot at Matt Hughes for the title, but turned it down. Matt Serra is a very well rounded fighter, as is Shonie Carter. Charles McCarthy hung with David Louiseau until a well placed kick caught him and ended the fight. Patrick Cote went 3 rounds with Tito Ortiz. And not just any Tito Ortiz, a Tito who had been training for Guy Mezger, who is NOT to be taken lightly. Cote stepped in at the last minute as a replacement and didn't even have much time to train. A good amount of these guys were legitimate contenders, or even threats to the champions at one point in their career. Then they just sorta fell off.

There are very good fighters in TUF 4 but does the winner deserve a title shot over guys like diego, nate marquate, swick,if matt we;re to lose he should get a rematch if fitch is to win his nest fight he could be looking to to deserve a shot. There are many more but...but these guys have proven that they deserve a shot a title.
Are they supposed to wait another year to get one? To me its unfair and im sure it bothers these guys.

Look fellas, this is professional fighting. Anyone who deserves to be called champion is ready to face anyone on the street at any time. I personally am ready to face anyone who believes that they can defeat me. I am not a malicious human being, but just a fighter, and believe me, I am (in no way shape or form a contending fighter) ready to face any challenge that comes to me. In this sport, the promoters are in our pocket , justhaving us as fans. If we all just stop buying the cards on ppv, they (the promoters) have to give us what we want. Basic economics and marketing, supply and demand. If you don't like what you see, SHUT UP and you will see that they have no choice, but to provide you with what you desire.
