hopefully bj runs through sherk and his next challenger for the lw title, then moves up to lay the smackdown on gsp and hughes, and then fights anderson silva at a catch weight.

silva/penn would be the fight of the century. IMO undoubtedly the 2 best fighters on the planet going at...damn it would be exciting. Silva has great muy thai but penn's boxing has improved significantly since he started fighting MMA. He has great hands.

Silva's got good jits, but his jits aren't even comparable to BJ's. This has potential to be the greatest fight in the history of MMA. I can only pray that this happens
So you called willpunisher out for saying that he thinks Anderson Silva would kill BJ Penn. Then you proceed to say that hopefully BJ runs though Sherk, GSP, Hughes, and then fights Anderson Silva at a catch weight.

How was his post any worse than yours? He was talking about a guy who is commonly regarded as the best P4P fighter in MMA beating a guy who is pretty good, but has been inconsistent in the past and fights 2 weight classes lower.

So aside from implying that Penn will just run through 2 former champs and a current champ, you also think that he should fight the champ 2 weight classes up. No offense intended TC, but what makes any sense about that?

Do you think that Anderson Silva thinks it would cement him as the best in the world by beating a guy 2 weight classes below him?

Don't you think that Penn should have to actually successfully defend his title before he sets his sights on beating not only the champ one weight class up, but also 2 weight classes up?

And as for the match up with Penn/ Silva? Sure, Penn has good hands. But, If he stood with Silva, that would very likely be the first time Penn was KO'd in his career. Do you think he would be that foolish?

Penn would be giving up 30 pounds or so, 6 inches in height, and a significant reach against Silva. Sorry, but I happen to agree, Silva would take that fight convincingly IMO.

i didnt say "BJ PENN IS GOING TO RUN THROUGH SHERK, GSP, HUGHES, SILVA, ETC." even when i made mention of BJ moving up, i said HOPEFULLY he moves up to beat gsp, hughes, etc. I never implied that penn would run through any of those guys. Implying that would be me saying something like "Penn is better than those guys in every aspect of mma." And before that i said hopefully bj runs through sherk and HIS NEXT LW TITLE CHALLENGER so yes, i do think penn should have to defend his title. try reading my post thoroughly next time...

Saying something like "Sorry BJ, but Silva would kill you" is a baseless and uneducated post. If you're going to say something like that, at least provide a base for why your opinion is what it is. dont just say "ah well so and so is going to kill that guy."

If he would have said "Silva is going to kill BJ because regardless of bj's boxing skills, he won't be able to handle the reach of silva or his strength when silva has applied a thai plumb" then i wouldnt have called his post uneducated or ignorant.....when all you have to say is "well bj you dont have a chance...silva is going to kill you" or any kind of bullshit like that, it's an uneducated and ignorant post. do you understand now or do i need to spell it out in more detail for u?

penn moved up to LHW and gave Machida a TOUGH fight...You can call it mma math or whatever the fuck you want, but after watching how well Penn fought against machida, i think he can undoubtedly hold his own against silva.

No man, you don't need to spell it out for me.

Saying it was ignorant or uneducated threw me off. That and the fact that you only quoted one of his 4 predictions to call uneducated and ignorant.

But now that you told me that what you really meant to say that it was merely a poorly supported statement, now I understand.

For the record I would call it MMA math, and would disagree with the result of it. But, unfortunately at this point, it is kind of all we have until Penn does all of those things.

if he comes into the rest of his fights in the shape he was in for his fight against stevenson, he should do all of those things aside from beating anderson. i'd say it's a 50/50 chance of penn beating silva and vice-versa. those 2 guys would make magic in the cage

I agree that he looked to be in great shape against Stevenson. I can't wait to see him and how his cardio holds up against someone that pushes the pace against him and makes him work. It may have been Penn's masterful execution of his game plan, but he controlled Joe Daddy from the opening bell.

The other thing that would worry me if I was more of a Penn fan was him saying "I got just enough Cardio to beat you"

I hope BJ truly comes in top shape for this fight. I also hope that the Sherk we are used to seeing shows up.

everyone makes such a big deal about bj penns cardio in the past. I think it's safe to say that he gassed against GSP but against hughes? He was whooping that ass from the opening second of the fight, and he didn't appear to be tired in the least until he separated his rib.

If he wouldn't have separated his rib when transitioning to hughes back, who's to say he wouldnt have continued whooping that ass and taken his title for the second time?

And BJ is saying he has "just enough cardio..." but he will have more than enough cardio to beat sherk. This is just a bad match-up for sherk in every aspect of mma...It's very unlikely that he's going to take penn down. Penn's balance and flexibility is insane, and i just dont see it happening to be honest. It very well could happen, but then there's sherk's second realm of danger...

Penn is nasty off his back. Look back at the rib injury during the hughes fight..Watch the transition from being on the bottom to hughes back. If you're a bjj fan, you will love that. It was sick...hughes is a bigger guy than sherk, not quite as explosive, but bigger nonetheless. They have VERY similar styles but sherk has the better hands...I dont see sherk being able to do much in bj's guard. MMA Math or not, hughes couldnt do shit, so what makes you think a guy with practically the same exact style as hughes is going to be able to do it to the "new and improved" bj penn?

Sherk's hands are alright, but he will realize that he has nothing on penn in the stand up before the end of the first round. I think penn's going to bust him up in the first...i bet we see a lot of blood. This imo is simply a horrible matchup for sherk, and i dont think there's anyway he can win unless penn comes into the fight out of shape and lets sherk take him down in the 3rd round and lay on him from there...

I really think Penn is going to walk through Sherk! I would love to see a rematch with GSP!

That is the best way to keep your metabolism up and burn calories. 5-6 meals a day is good for anyone to stay in shape.

Good read. I especially enjoyed how he thinks the Ortiz/Machida fight will play out. I agree with BJ 100%, and since he's fought Machida already, I really hope he's right.

Small meals of quality food... just trying to prevent you from catching a suit because someone thought it was ok to eat Wendy's six times a day...
