For some reason I can't copy the portion of the post I want to, but anyway, Salaverry's take on the fighter/promotion relationship is a perfect condensation of the problem and what needs to happen to fix it. Fighters just don't have the leverage to fairly negotiate, and promotions like the UFC actively push a divide-and-conquer agenda to keep the figures down.

So what your saying is that the UFC has firmly shafted Ivan as well?

I remember that, it completely slipped my mind. Isn't Ivan near the end of his fighting career? I remember an interview before his fight with Martin where he said he only wanted to fight a few more times and then focus entirely on his teaching/schools.

No thats not what I'm saying, I don't even know what he is making for this fight. I doubt they're paying Ivan enough to keep him happy based on how he talks about his career, so if they wanted to keep him around, yeah, they should give him a raise. But his perspective on the situation as a whole is spot on.

Hell I thought he was going to retire after the Martin fight.

I'd love to see him pull of the win in some spectacular fashion that would have the fans begging to see more of the guy and he gets a shot at an actual contender.

Although his upcoming opponent is a great fighter and would beat some of the UFC WM contenders now.
Yea, they definitely don't give the guy easy fights....but IMO he beats Martin 90% of the time, but a loss is a loss ya know?

You see, this is the one thing about the UFC that really pisses me off. They use a vet like Ivan, treat him like shit, give him tough fights, meanwhile they're paying some new kid/TUF fighter who doesn't have half the talent Ivan does, twice as much and giving them cans to boost their popularity. I know Ivan doesn't want to fight much longer, but his situation just gets to me. After all, Terry looked pretty solid at 185 before Leben KTFO'd him.
