I gotta say I really liked Tito back when he was on top. Then he just changed and became a douchebag. I really hated the guy. Then comes TUF 3 And he seemed like a genuine cool ass dude. Then came 2007 and I am in LA and I am eating at a little hole in the wall mexican joint and in walks Tito and just to see what was up I walked up and said "whats up Tito". And I'll be damned if he and the guy he was with didn't sit and have lunch with me and my girl and talked with us for an hour straight. Cool ass guy and he appreciates the shit out of his fans. I got respect for him still not a huge fan of him as a fighter , but I am a huge fan of him as a person. I think he will beat Machida and I really wish him well on anything he does in the future.

I'm in the same boat. Even when he fought Chuck back 2 years ago, I told myself I like both fighters and I'm not gonna root for anything except a good fight. I told myself that for months leading up to the fight. Once the fight started, I naturally started cheering for tito to win over chuck.

I like him too, I dont like the fact that he can act like a douche bag but i guess its in his nature. I've always rooting for him growing up and its hard not to now. I'll be cheering for him over Machida. Hopefully he gets re-signed and competes in the UFC LHW division for a while.

I think after he beats Machida he should be one fight away from title contention. However you can say the same thing about many of the other talented fighters in the UFC.

War TITO!

I thought Tito came off as pretty down to Earth and genuine aside from the "Champion I am" comment. Everything else seemed ok to me.

I'd like to see him in EXC. Especially a potential rematch with Frank. It's hard to imagine him going to work for Affliction either, considering they're both trying to gain a piece of the same market.

IMHO there are really 4 Titos all in one body...lol

One is the "persona" that he portrays in the media to hype himself and make money for himself and the organization that he is fighting for, one is the fighter in the ring or cage, one is a smart and successful businessman, and one is a genuine nice guy that really gives a damn about MMA and the other MMA fighters out there that are struggling to make a living.

Unfortunately...most people can't see past the persona one, because that's the one they see and hear about the most.

Having met the guy breifly a long time ago at an event when he was first starting out, I immediately was impressed with his sense of humor, his intelligence, and his politeness and manners. He seemed like a pretty street-smart, humble, down-to-earth guy that really loved MMA and that just wanted to make a decent living as a pro fighter.

My opinion about him hasn't changed much since then. He has made some questionable choices in his personal life (who hasn't?), and not all of his career choices have been the best, (hell, neither have mine...lol), but I still feel that in spite of it all, he's still more than likely just a nice guy deep down inside that is unfortunately involved in a very rough business.

Has Tito been good for the sport of MMA as a whole and the UFC?
Has he always tried to give the fans their money's worth?
Has he given back to the sport that made him a household name?
Has he given back to the community and fans?
Has he tried to help others that are less fortunate than he is?

Yep...but no one ever talks about that much, do they?

I will agree that there surely are better skilled, better winning, and more technically-varied fighters than Tito - but the man was , is, and no doubt will continue to be a legend in MMA - with or without Dana and/or the UFC behind him. And Dana and the UFC have made a boatload of $$ off of him - so IMHO Dana can stop whining about him anytime...FFS.

Love him or hate him... there will never be another Tito Ortiz in MMA or the UFC. And I for one am glad that he is finally shoving the UFC and Dana behind him, moving forward, and getting back to what he does best. His decision to focus and dedicate the bulk of his time and energy on Team Punishment, his business interests, all the while only taking time to train for an occasional fight for a decent payday is IMHO probably the wisest thing he has ever done.

And even though I think Machida is a decent fighter...I hope Tito seriously whoops his ass...just so we all get to see the look on Dana's face when it's all over. And just wtf he would say if they put a mic in his face when the fight is over would no doubt be entertaining as hell...lol

I'm well aware of that. He's the present and the future of the division. Had you read any of the following posts, I went on to say that Rampage is only 29 and I see him going on a Chuck or Tito like run with the title. Machida is actually older than Rampage by a month and I don't see someone like Machida beating Rampage. And the way the division is stacked up right now, I don't see anyone else in the division beating him anytime soon either. He beat Chuck twice, Tito's leaving and they're friends anyway, Wanderlei isn't the same Wanderlei he was when he beat him back in Pride, Jardine, Machida, Irvin, Evans, I can't fathom a scenario where any of these guys beat him, unless one of them lands a Serra punch that stuns him and they finish him. But if Chuck couldn't do that, I don't see any of the others doing it either.

With that said, I stand by my assessment. Quentin Jackson is the present and the future of the Light Heavyweight Division.

I think that has a lot more to do with Jenna talking in his ear, she probably screams it to him when he is giving her the full mount and ground and pound.

The thing that cracks me up about this interview is that Tank is one of the reasons Tito is even in the UFC. And he has no respect for him. Does Tank deserve respect, lol thats up to you, but I think Tito kinda owes him some.

This was out of Tito's own mouth on the fight networks 1 on 1 with Tito Ortiz if anyone cared.

tito is controversial so he's very marketable. hell....the guy even did celebrity apprentice and he's been with jenna for awhile now. these earn tito big time exposure and adding his ego into the mix is sure to net tito tons-o-cash.

can't wait for the machida fight.

Tito and Tank used to be friends long ago and they had some kind of falling out. I remember when the UFC brough Tank back, Tank called Tito out and said he died his hair blonde like a girl. He went on to get smoked by Frank Mir.
