All the guys were snickering and laughing like something was just said off camera but now it was back to all business and the usual politically correct non-sense. But Arlovski made the point that he had been ready to fight for quite some time but was given no opponent and then he was finally given Jake O'brien.

I could be reading into it but I think he was unhappy with how he was being treated. He went from being champ to losing twice in a row and that made him fall out of favor. After a couple of sluggish wins, the UFC buried him on the undercard. And it's bad enough to put him on the prelims, but to not even air his fight when there was plenty of time left and he stopped his opponent in the first. Liddell lost twice in a row too and they didn't bury him on the undercard.
FYI, AA had a couple of people turn down fights with him that were almost signed for various reasons like injury and possibly people just wanted no part of him. I think he was put on the undercard because Jake is such a boring ass fighter, not because of AA.

After Arlovski's past few showings, I wasn't at all shocked that they put him on the undercard. What I was shocked at was that they didn't air it when they had time to and he had actually stopped his opponent in impressive fashion. I went to UFC's website and paid the 1.99 to see it and when I was through, I was like, this guy just doesn't belong here (the prelims). He was the UFC champ not that long ago. But in that interview, you could tell something was up that they couldn't talk about on the air.

As for him having guys turn down the fight, can't much blame them for that. I wouldn't want to fight a hungry pit bull either.

This seems like a great card and i'm sure it has a huge payroll it has to shell out. I just hope they don't blow their wad on the first one and never recover.:headscratch:

Wow, finally another organization stepping up and putting on a show like they're really trying to compete with the UFC. Sometimes I feel these other promotions are happy being second tier. I'm really frigin impressed, and excited to see this.

Yeah but they have only signed most of these fighters for only one fight. They have no stability. They are just going pay out as much possible to attract guys who don't have exclusive contracts or are free agents. If they are paying Fedor a rumored 2 million there is no way this show will make any kind of money. And I have still yet to see anything about this event anywhere except on MMA sites. No offence but hardcore fans are not going to make this show a success by themselves. Josh Barnett even said it was foolish to try and rush out and compete with the UFC. They should start out slow instead of blowing their load on one show.

actually, he was offered some fights, but I believe it was 3 separate opponents backed out of the fights with him. If I remember correctly, it may of been 2 fights not 3. He said this himself on a 1 on 1 interview I saw. I think it was from the fight network. Although I think thats kinda BS because they replace fighters all the time in the UFC so i dunno, but thats just what he said.

And its not really easy to compare Liddell to Arlovski, because yes Arlovski was champ for a short time, but that was on the heels of a Frank Mir accident. Chuck got his title outright and was and probably still is the biggest name in MMA history. Arlovski, to the on again off again fan, is a huh!? who's that? I am not trying to dis Arlovski because I like him a lot, but there is no comparrison for Chuck. I will be sad when the news becomes official, maybe he will do like cro cop and come back. I would be ok with that lol.

Yea, they had plenty of time to show his short fight and didn't. That was one of the things that lead to all the internet rumors that he was 1 and done.
