| Dana Says the UFC Won't Bid on Tito Ortiz vs. White is UFC's hottest feud - MMA - Yahoo! Sports Quote:
"This guy went on Howard Stern and said he was getting $200,000 a fight,” White said. “That was such a lie. Tito made $5.8 million in 2006. He only fought once in 2007. He made $710,000 for that fight (with Rashad Evans) and that was the third match from the top (on the card). He goes around saying we made $231 million last year. He’s a moron. This guy talks about what a businessman he is, and he was on ‘The Apprentice’ and he doesn’t know the difference between revenue and profit."
“There’s not going to be any bidding war,” White said. “Gary Shaw (promoter at Elite XC) should offer him $30 a fight, because we’re not going to match it.”

There won't be a bidding war, but you can bet your ass if Tito wins in dominant fashion that the UFC will give him an offer.
Funny how Dana says that Tito doesn't understand the difference between revenue and profit, and yet all the fighters that do complain about the money always say the same thing - After paying my trainers, health care and what not, we don't get much else. Maybe the fighters should use this line as well?

Dana always needs an excuse to call a guy he doesnt like an idiot, moron, POS...whatever! he has no class and always makes the mistake of bringing his personal grudges into his business. will it ever lead to the downfall of the UFC....not anytime soon, but you never know.
i cant wait to see what happens if Tito does beat Machida in devastating fashion

Dana White needs to find a way to better occupy himself...maybe a hot girlfriend?
it seems that in every interview he talks shit on someone at some point...he just seems like a very unhappy person if you ask me...except for when chuck liddell wins lol

I'm thinking people are gonna want to see Tito beat down Machida just to shove it in his face.

The criticism of Tito has been that he lost his desire to be at the top level of the fight game and he was more concerned with fashioning himself as a business man. I can't disagree with this. Now, a few weeks before the fight and before the end of his contract Tito is talking about how reinvested in the sport he's become, how he will revive his team, and much of a fighter he still is. I don't really buy it, other than that he is marketing himself and positioning himself to try to get the best deal from whatever half-assed organization that will sign him. His traveling reality show that he's been promoting couldn't sound more gimmicky and I really believe his heart is not in the fight game anymore. The last fights against Chuck and Rashad proved that, and his fights with Shamrock were merely a hype machine and money making scheme that imitated the WWE. He doesn't like to get hit anymore - that's for sure - and he's fighting at the most at 70% of his former prowess. He may try to go out with a bang, but I think his goals no longer coincide with actual fighting.

Tito is trying to get all the hype behind him because it's been gone for a while. He hasn't seemed dedicated in a while and if he's "rededicating himself" then where the fuck has his dedication been? I think everyones big beef with Tito, or at least mine, is the fact that he doesn't seem like his focus is on fighting anymore. With that being the case, he shouldn't be bitching about his pay.

With that being the case, he shouldn't be bitching about his pay. | Can you blame him for trying to get hype for his last fight? He went from headlining to 3rd fight and barely being mentioned in the ads by the UFC. Dana recently said that his fight with Rashad earned him something like $710,000 and there was a lot of hype for that fight.
Now Dana isn't intentionally hyping Tito by saying he sucks and what not, but it is adding more fuel to the fire so to speak. Tito may not want to get hit anymore, but lets face it, would you really want to get hit if it meant it could put you to sleep? Name one fighter that truly likes it when his opponent lands a shot on him?
And as for reinventing his fight camp, I think he is truthful in that. He looks at Randy Couture who has a fantastic gym and is actually now a chain. And to "buy into" that franchise - it isn't cheap at all. My guess is Tito is looking for a way to get that to happen for himself as well.

I think Tito needs to focus on fighting, because thinking just doesn't seem to be a strong point of his.....
