Default What Would Be The Most Impressive Result At UFC 84?

UFC 84 is sure going to answer a lot of questions in the LHW division. We are most certainly going to have a number 1 contender for the title once the night is over, then again, if both Machida and Jardine win, it could cloud the top of the food chain even more. So of the 6 possible outcomes in the 3 fights we are all waiting for, which possible outcome would be deemed most impressive?

BJ over Sherk
Sherk over BJ
Jardine over Wanderlei
Wanderlei over Jardine
Tito Over Machida
Machida Over Tito

In my opinion, I think Sherk beating BJ would be most impressive. I don't give Sherk much of a chance and feel like BJ will dominate Sherk in this fight. Sherk would prove alot of people wrong and a win over BJ would only solidify his status as a top contender. That would be most impressive.

A BJ win over Sherk would probably just prove what most of us all think, BJ is simply superior.

A Wanderlei win wouldn't surprise anyone. IMO, Wanderlei is going to be a heavy favorite and most people expect him to be back to top form and destroy Jardine.

A Jardine win would make people assume that Wanderlei has reached a point in his career where he needs to decide if he can still compete at a high level. That would be 4 losses in a row for Wanderlei and give Jardine 2 wins in a row over legends in the sport and probably getting him the next title shot.

A Machida win will only further the sentiment that alot of people have about Tito being done. I disagree with this sentiment but alot of people feel this way. It will also prove that Machida is a legit contender but I think a Jardine win and a Machida win would put Machida one more win from a title shot and give Jardine the 1st crack at the champ. A Machida-Jardine fight could also be on the horizon if both guys win.

A Tito win shows that the fire still burns in Tito's heart and would also cause alot of people to think Machida was overrated all along. I disagree with this sentiment as well, I think Machida will be a top contender eventually.

All of these are simply my opinions based on a collection of thoughts read over the past few weeks leading to this fight. These forums will be going crazy around midnight in a few days and all of these questions will be answered. Thoughts anyone???

If all the fights end in Leg Locks, i'll challenge Fedor to a Sambo match.

But it can happen.
I think that's the only thing that qualifies as an upset. Regardless of who wins the Tito/Machida, Wandy/Jardine matchs I don't really see those two matches as upsets in the making as I see them more or less on the same level.

Penn and Sherk? Penn loses? That's an upset.

i think it matters more on how which fighter wins. if sherk comes in and bj just cant find an answer for him and just gets dominated that would be impressive. i just dont see that happening.

same thing with jardine, i think if he comes in with the right game plan and his head right i think he could put on an impressive fight.

To be honest i can't remember the last time there has been the top 3 fights, being this close.

Penn could win by subbing Sherk, like everyones expects or Sherk could out condition Penn and win a decision.

Wand could knock out Jardine like everyone expects or Jardine could hang in there and out point Wand and win a hard fought decsision just like he did against Chucky.

Machida and Ortiz is the toughest to predict imo. the UFC is giving Machida another fight in which they elimate someone from contention. Machidas comp hasn't been that stellar either, but this win will do little to solidify that because many people think Tito is washed up. Ortiz could go out and beat Machida by decision and than everyone can say Machida was overrated and continue to talk out of their ass. The only way i think it will apply is if Ortiz goes out and beats down Machida and finishes him in the first round, but on the same hand Ortiz really wants to win, to cash in on a big payday from someone.

Most impressive will be if Machida goes out and finishes Tito imo. How many times does a player in a contract year come out and put up the best numbers in the nhl, nba or mlb? Ortiz is coming into this fight, hungier than ever, and if Machida takes him out, than that to me is impressive.

Tito winning with a KO victory... when was the last time TITO KO'd anybody????? (not named shamrock) that would be the biggest upset.... Sherk over BJ, meh, I dont think ppl are giving Sherk enough credit... He can win,... I think Jardine over Wand is a bigger upset.... then Tito over Mach and then Sherk over BJ

I really don't understand how you could say Jardine or Wand would be the biggest upset. i mean Jardine beat Liddell at his own game, and Liddell beat Wand. i respect what Wand has done in the past i just think Jardine is going to show Wand he needs to drop to 185. I think everyone is takingtoo much stock in how Wand did in Pride. Tougher comp in the ufc and with Wand getting older it going to show this weekend imo. With all that said i want Wand to win and than go and fight at middleweight.

i have gone with Tito from day one, and i believe he will beat Machida...but i feel Tito finishing Machida will be the most impressive finish of UFC 84, quite simply because no one thinks it will happen.

It would be Machita by last second knockout in the third and then as Tito's waking up, he says Dana smirking and jumps up and KO's Dana in record time.
