| Pride U.S. Rules
I heard that the Pride U.S. debut is subject to the same rules as all MMA orgs in Nevada. 3 x 5 minute rounds, and no knees or kicks to a downed opponent. In addition, I guess Pride itself is saying no elbows either, so it seems alot like an IFL gig.
I wonder how these changes will affect the performance of some of the fighters who rely on soccer kicks for example. It will be interesting to see.

Are these NSAC rules the same in all states currently sanctioning MMA events?

wow, i for one am very disappointed with all the rule changes for the US show. not being able to hit a downed opponent, 3 5min rds, no elbows? i honestly enjoy pride alot more then ufc, kotc, etc, however the card isn't looking very solid thus far, and i don't believe will encourage any of the fans that aren't familiar with them. i could be wrong, i'm just venting as i was very hyped about pride coming to the states, and now this.

I know, I'm surprised more people aren't talking about that. The only thing people can do on the ground is punch. It's one thing for the IFL to do that, this is PRIDE we're talking about here! A lot of what makes PRIDE better to UFC (for those who feel that way, I like both pretty much equally at the moment) is the fact that their fights are so brutal with the stomps, knees to head, kicks to head, etc. on the ground.

Can't blame PRIDE, they don't make the rules. PRIDE doesn't like elbows because of the cut factor. You can still punch on the ground, hammerfist, and knee the body. I'm sure some of the fights will be entertaining.

In all honesty, this is the dumbest thing I've ever heard of. Pride is known for it's brutality and big stomps/kicks/knees on the ground. Why are they even bothering with bringing it stateside if it isn't the same product? How are they going to compete with UFC if the rules are TAMER and it is inside a ring instead of chain-link fence? I don't see Pride taking ANY of the UFC pie with NSAC rules in place and them outlawing elbows. I, for one, will just wait 2 years for the DVD to come out, then maybe I'll rent it off Netflix...maybe.

Yeah I think that no elbows things is bullshit, if Pride is going to comply with every other UFC rule, why not elbows?.....Especially with no kicking/knees on the ground. :banghead:
