ok, nm my posts. I am taking this topic off course.
For all the arguments and answers, go read "Matt...looked terrible?"
I think all aspect of the fight was asked and answered and conclusion was reached at the end.
GSP shoudl win because i dont think Hughes can take him down. But if hugh gets takedown, I dont see GSP winning this fight despite the cocksucking praise from Dana about his athleticism.

Afterall, why the hell would anyone be impressed about Hughes standup? He wasn't doing anything until BJ hurt his ribs. Anyone can hit a guy who just stands there. you were impressed with that? I could have took out BJ in that third round. | Look, I said he IMPROVED his standup. And it was impressive to see a wrestler throw combinations and kicks in a match. BJ wasn't exactly motionless, he did throw back and move around (a little).
In past fights, Matt would never hesitate to take opponents down. So it was cool to see him stand there and make intelligent punching combinations and even a few leg kicks.

P.S. Even with BJ's rib problem, you and I would got killed in there. BJ is impressive in any fight. |

you said look at the 3rd round, bro 3rd round PENN HAD NO RIBS LOL he was completely shut down at that point

He has a really solid jab, which will be a huge factor in the GSP fight.

I can see he got better if you compare his fights from years ago but in his recent fights, he always had a not-so-horrible stand up as he threw punches and occasional kicks. He landed two jabs in beginning of the fight and that was the last of it. He didn't land a single shot after that.

Not going to say anything much different from what has already been posted.
I think GSP needs to obviously come fit to fight 5 full rounds. If he gases, it will be a damn shame cause the chance to be a champion don't come often...
I think he needs to defend against the takedown from Matt, preferrably by lateral movement or sprawling to defend a shot attempt. Is it me or does a crossface and underhook from the sprawl position not get used much?!? Its a great way to control the shooter and position yourself on top (assuming you have the wrestling/grappling skills to work from the top).
Lastly, when they go to the ground (say it with me... most fights go to the ground...) he should be the one doing the taking down. I don't think he should be afraid of being on the ground with Matt but he should be VERY respectful of Matt's ground game and be working to get a submission. I don't think he can GnP Matt.
