Kimbo vs Gannon........nah.......I'd rather see Kimbo vs Brandon Lee Hinkle who already beat Gannon.

I dont think the people that are judging Kimbo are thinking as if they were entering MMA
be honest with yourself if your just starting MMA.. wouldnt you want your first 3 fights to be guys that arent going to overwhelm you?
I know if I fought at 170 id want my first fights to be like Sam Morgan, and no offense to him but Pete Spratt.. I wouldnt wanna be fighting like Jake Shields or ill even go a mid-ranged and say Chris Lytle or like even Drew Fickett right off the bat.

If he hadn't been a youtube "star" or whatever, he would probably be fighting in some small time mma show like all the rest of the people at his level.
Gary Shaw is using kimbo as the main event because people will recognize his name. Does it hurt the image and purity of MMA? I say YES
But I'm still going to watch it. I have nothing against Kimbo, and I think EliteXC's shows are pretty good. I've enjoyed pretty much all the EliteXC/Strikeforce shows.
But Kimbo--he's just doing his thing. It's all the little fucktards outside of the cage doing the business that I can't stand.
I think it's bullshit for the sport that Kimbo is in the main event, and I think it's a slap in the face to someone like Robbie Lawler who's fighting for a belt.
HOWEVER, i do understand why Kimbo is in the main event from a marketing standpoint. I mean the guy is recognizable among the age group that's going to be watching the event on CBS, and he's easy to promote.
Long and the short of it is this--Kimbo being the main event will end up being a good thing because more people will watch this event because of his name, and if the ratings are good, CBS will keep them.
EliteXC on CBS=MORE MMA. This is always a good thing imo. It's hard sometimes, but ppl need to lay off the Kimbo Haterade and just let him do his thing.

With Kimbo's huge paychecks, I think that he should at least be fighting lower tiered guys like Brandon Lee Hinkle (thanks Twankydawg for that one, that's good) or someone along those lines. Work his way up from lower tier, to middle tier, to higher tier. He shouldn't have to start with the top notch guys but if Shaw is talking about him and Bigfoot Silva being two of the top guys in their heavyweight division for a belt that doesn't exist yet, he should at least be fighting guys that A) won't tap on the way to the ground and B) came straight from a bar to the event. I agree with Monson that he shouldn't be fighting huge name guys just yet but enough with guys who wouldn't even be fighting if it wasn't for them being fed to an internet legend.

Two things:
1. Kimbo is NOT a fucking street fighter. Never was. I really wish people would stop using that terminology to describe his past "fights."
2. Yes...it IS Kimbo's third MMA fight. And I don't understand why people get so angry when he's called out for not fighting tough competition.
Chuck Liddell fought Jeremy Horn in his third MMA fight.
Tito Ortiz fought Guy Mezger in his 3rd MMA fight.
Rampage...etc.
The list goes on.
I like Kimbo, but there is NOTHING wrong with wanting to see him fight against tougher opponents.

Kimbo vs. Gannon would be good for the entertainment aspect of the industry... but I don't think it's good for MMA.
