Shamrock hosts "Backstage Pass" post-event show on Saturday
by MMAjunkie.com Staff on May 29, 2008 at 3:52 pm ET

MMA fighter and EliteXC broadcaster Frank Shamrock will host a post-fight show following Saturday's "EliteXC: PRIMETIME" event, which airs live on CBS.

The show, "Backstage Pass," will recap the night's card, which includes a main event between heavyweights Kevin "Kimbo Slice" Ferguson and James Thompson. Shamrock will also conduct live interviews with the event's fighters.

The show will be streamed live on ProElite.com beginning at 11 p.m. ET/8 p.m. PT.

Saturday's event will be the first-ever MMA event to air live on major U.S. network television. It'll be the first of four "Saturday Night Fights" events that CBS will broadcast over the next 12 months.

Earlier this month, Showtime announced that former UFC/Strikeforce champion Shamrock, veteran sports broadcaster and MMA newcomer Gus Johnson, and longtime MMA broadcaster Mauro Ranallo will occupy the broadcast booth for Saturday's inagural EliteXC-CBS event. Showtime Championship Boxing veteran Karyn Bryant will serve as the night's cageside reporter.

CBS will air a five-fight main card on Saturday. Additionally, ProElite.com will stream five of the night's preliminary bouts.

According to fiveouncesofpain.com, CBSSports.com will also stream the preliminary card.

The Internet broadcasts begin at 7 p.m. ET.
