Penn already was the LW champion and defended the belt against a guy whom most thought he would beat, who was (allegedly) fighting after 10 months out of the cage and fighting "naturally" off of steroids.
Penn is a close second in my book (for the impressive stoppage); but IMO given that the consensus opinion was that Penn would win handily and virtually nobody gave Uno a chance to beat the nearly-unbeatable Ishida who had just handed Melendez his first loss, to stay alive in the DREAM LW tourney, I give the nod to Ishida.
IMO with all factors combined, Ishida had the more impressive month.

I don't see how anyone can not vote for Penn here. The man solidified his status as at least a top 3 p4p fighter, over a man who had previously been stopped only once, and who had been beaten only twice in nearly 40 fights.
Close runner-up is Wandy for his obliteration of Jardine.

Gotta go with Lyoto....

Ishida has lost 3 times before that fight so I think calling him unbeatable is a bit of a strecth...
I'm not saying Uno's performance wasn't the best... I'm saying the best perfromance shouldn't be a matter of situation as much as much as execution... that's what people are going to use a criteria for their voting. You are certainly in the monority with your opinion (not that you are wrong) being the only poster to vote for Uno compared to 13 for Wandy and 9 for Penn.

He's only lost to other top 10's in the longest time. For Sherk you can say the same, which is similar to the argument you made. Quote: |

However, one of the criteria was factoring in whom your vote beat. While Sherk is a legit top-10 LW in the world, Penn was #1 to #3 on most rankings and he was expected to beat Sherk. Quote: |

I would have him as a close 2nd and if Caol hadn't choked out Ishida (or at least stopped him) I would have voted for Penn.

I went with BJ. He totally destroyed Sean Sherk from beginning to end and left absolutely no question who the #1 155lber in the UFC is. BJ is a new man since dropping to 155lbs. I was thoroughly impressed by BJ Penn.

I mean, didn't GSP and A. Silva win previous 2 months - everyone also expected them to win but their performance was impressive.

Who put on the best performance with all factors considered.
Here is point #1 Quote: |
1. You should vote on who you believe performed the best in the month.
| It is even in the Poll question. Having the best month, irregardless, would have to do with performance as well.
