This was the hardest month by far to pick. It came down to Uno, Wand and Machida for me. I picked Machida mainly because Tito couldnt do anything to him besides the Triangle and Machida got his shots in, avoided damage, took tito down big time and almost seemed like he was going to finish tito off at one point.

I keep thinking if I should have given it to Uno though because his performance really impressed me too.

GSP winning last month was complete bullshit fanboy crap, Thiago beat a better opponent in more impressive fashion.... but it was GSP so he won.
Honestly I personally think GSP performance was better than Thiago. Thiago's win was bigger than GSP's but GSP performed better than Thiago and that's what this poll is about. Thiago honestly did nothing to Karo in the first round. Karo had that round for sure. Then Thiago comes out in the 2nd round and he landed that knee flush and finished Karo. He didn't put on a beautiful performance at all, he just caught Karo with a well timed knee and that knee doesnt speak for the rest of the fight.

GSP on the other hand dominated Serra from start to finish on the ground and on the feet. Some people thought Serra had the advantage on both ends but GSP did negate everything and put on a great performance. It had nothing to do with fanboy crap. He was the better performer that month.

I picked Wand simply because he was fabulous. His back was against a wall and people were talking about his possible retirement with a 4th consecutive loss... Granted I think that was BS talk just to hype the fight, but still, you don't get to stay in the UFC if all you do is rack up losses and we've seen that as of late. Wand was brilliant in his 36 second demolishing of a man who kicked chuck liddell from promonance a year prior. Oh, and I'd pretty much vote for anyone that uses the dreaded "RAPE CHOKE!"

I jsut realized that I picked other with the intent of putting Miguel Torres as my pick... Now I just realized it is June and no longer may. DOH!

So with that in mind I would probable change my pick to BJ Penn.

He picked apart Sherk and kind of made it look easy. He showed ONCE again that he is in a league by himself at Lightweight.

A very close second would be Wandy. He went out and did what he said he was going to do. It is ALWAYS a good month when you can do that!

The argument could be made that he was about to finish Tito twice.

I agree. Just because GSP has been at a top level for a while now doesn't change the fact that he came in and dominated the guy that (right or wrong) was rated #1 in the WW division and owned a very dominant victory over GSP the last time they fought as well.

Aside from the physical accomplishment of beating Matt Serra so badly, it was a big mental accomplishment for someone who so many people were quick to call "mentally weak" and so on. Serra TKO'd him and took his belt. He came back in and dominated him to regain his belt. Mentally weak my ass. Give the man his dues.

As usual, it comes down to BJ Penn for this month. Penn absolutely dominated Sherk (as everyone expected him to) to solidify the belt situation in the LW division. Wandy's KO was awesome and vicious, but Penn's victory carries more significance this month to me.

I voted for Lyoto myself. I was on the fence about him until his 3 round ownage of Tito. He made me a fan for life. A lot of people are very critical of his fighting style but I was damn impressed with his performance, especially if he was sick as rumored.

I went with BJ because his was a championship bout, he had one of the toughest opponents, and he completely dominated. Uno, and then Wandy.

I got Penn first, Wandy a close second, and Machida third. All three fights were important for their careers and all three performances were pretty damn impressive, IMO.

BJ and Lyoto were close, but I gave it to Wanderlei.

BJ was fantastic in his fight, but I think Sherk didn't execute any sort of gameplan that may have troubled Penn. He said he felt like he was holding his own in the stand-up(?), but he had lost every round clearly so even if he had stayed in it he would'v needed to stop BJ (which i dont think was ever likely).

Machida fought strategically and and was deserving of much praise for beating Tito, but i did kind of expect it to go that way, so I gave it to Wandy.

I think he had a lot of pressure on him because of his recent losses and the move to UFC but he answered everyones questions by leathering The Dean.
