Default Ramma's Fighter of the Month Poll (May)

Figured I had to bang this out immediately since June is starting off with MMA on day one. Damn WEC.

It’s that time of the month. It is time for you guys to vote. Who was the best fighter in the month of May?

Things to remember:

1. You should vote on who you believe performed the best in the month.
2. You shouldn’t vote on who you believe is the best fighter. This is not a favorite fighter poll either.
3. Feel free to explain your choice (especially if you picked “Other”) or question the choice of others. Debate Away! But debate with some tact and intelligence.
4. For those who have trouble picking a fighter: measure the quality of the opponent he/she beat, how often was he/she dominant, did he/she finish the fight, did he/she beat the other fighter at his/her own game, etc.
5. Do you think a fighter who lost or an unlisted fighter had the best performance? Select the other option.

April Results (95 Votes)
Last Month’s Winner: Georges St. Pierre (47 Votes: 49.47% of the Votes)
Last Month’s Runner-Up: Shinya Aoki (14 Votes: 14.74% of the Votes)

BJ and Eddie Alvarez are close IMO. Most memorable moment of the month is definitely Wand's KO of Technoviking.

Had to go with Caol Uno, scoring a huge and unforeseen upset choking out the #9 ranked LW in the world (Nightmare's rankings), Ishida, who had previous to that fight only lost twice in his last 14 fights - to Gomi and Vitor Ribeiro - and who had just outfought Gilbert Melendez at Yarennoka.

I went with him due to the upset factor; runner up is BJ Penn stopping Sean Sherk but since Penn was such a big favorite and Uno the underdog, I had to say his performance was a lot more impressive.

I gotta say BJ there was no question in 98% of everyones minds that he would dominate. He did just what he said he would do. A second is Wandi however the question was there,I am glad he answered that question with a huge KO

Wanderlei without a doubt. The biggest question marks were over his head, including speculation about moving down to middleweight if he would have sustained his fourth loss in a row. Wandy put all of those doubts to rest with a very fast and brutal knockout of a guy who in his previous fight won a decision with the Iceman Chuck Liddell.

Honorable mention: BJ Penn, answering the call of duty and solidifying himself as the best 155 pounder most likely of all time. BJ doesn't win though because in my opinion we already knew he was the best 155er of all time before he beat Sherk.

Machida beat Tito, but that doesn't say much.

How can you pick Wandy and Penn, who were like -250 to -300 favorites to win their fights, as having a better month over Caol Uno, who was a +215 dog and choked out a top-10 (and nearly unbeatable) LW in the 2nd round?

What does being a favorite or an underdog have to with who was the best fighter of the month? It was impressive and an upset, but Wand totally dominated Jardine and Penn destroyed a fighter that was deamed un-destroyable... Not mention it was a title fight with allot more on the line.
