Personally I think it's pretty smart.
Why would Rogers of had to be the one to fight Kimbo? Was kimbo rated highier and closer to a title shot than Rogers? Would of it been considered a step up in competition for Rogers to fight Kimbo?

Rogers should get the next shot at whoever there champion is. Kimbo still has alot to learn and needs alot more experience. The only reason Rogers should want to fight kimbo ( a step down in competition for him IMO) is for name recognition. And I believe that is the only reason he wants to.

Granted, Kimbo should not of been headlining the card. The only reason he was is because he is the biggest attraction they have. Even my father was talking about it and he doesn't watch any MMA.

This isn't my logic but Gary Shaw's. In an interview when talking about the first ever Elite HW title belt, he mentioned 3 names as being in contention for that belt and Rogers wasn't one of them. Kimbo, Thompson (who Rogers beat), and Bigfoot Silva. So in Shaw's eyes, Rogers-Kimbo would be a step up in competition for Rogers, not down. Personally, I don't think Kimbo can cut it against anyone but drunks and freaks.

I didn't realize that He wasn't in line for a shot. For some reason I thought Silva already had it. My bad.

Okay Gary Shaw's logic isn't all that good, it is actualyl horrible.

Yea, I agree. Bigfoot Silva could run roughshod over every HW in EliteXC. I really think Shaw is going to continue babying Kimbo until he can milk every last dollar out of him. If he really wants Kimbo to be a legit star, and you really want him to beat cans until he gets the experience to be better, put him on SHOXC every 2-3 months and let him get some work in. Don't make him the main event because it has the potential to be ambarassing, like Saturday.

For Rogers this is 2 part. He was already pissed before the show about Thompson fighting Kimbo in the headliner, that wasn't manufactured after the fact. He was probably more pissed when he saw Kimbo get his ass handed to him all the way up until the stoppage. He also realizes he needs to generate some buzz for himself or Shaw won't give him big fights or more money. Kimbo is the biggest draw they have and he is using Kimbo's name to direct some focus his direction. So he'll either get more love in elitexc or he'll get fired. Either one is a step up. If he fights Kimbo he's going to beat him decisively and if he's fired he's the guy Shaw fired because he didn't wan't Kimbo to face him. It's really no lose for Rogers.

True and with the state of the HW division in the UFC, he could easily move up the ladder. Not sure how he would matchup with the top 5 guys, but some of the lower top 10 guys could be easy matchups for him.
