| UFC 85 Weigh-in results; Thiago Alves misses weight UFC 85 weigh-in results for ‘Bedlam’ PPV event in London; Thiago Alves misses weight at UFC blog for UFC news, results, videos, rumors, fights, pics and tickets — MMAmania.com Quote:
The official weigh-in results for UFC 85: “Bedlam” at the O2 Arena in London, England, are in … sorta.
The online feed from SetantaSports.com came in late, which means that we only have the results for two bouts.
However, from the footage we did see, Thiago Alves came in super heavy at 174 pounds. He will not have to shed the extra poundage — he and Hughes have agreed to fight at a catchweight.
Bad news … he’ll more than likely have to pay Hughes a percentage of his salary for the massive blunder.
Stay tuned for more details. We’ll post the complete results shortly.
Here are the official results: Thiago Alves (174) VS Matt Hughes (170)
Jason Day (184) VS Michael Bisping (184)
Mike Swick (170) VS Marcus Davis (170)
Thales Leites (185) VS Nate Marquardt (185)
Fabricio Werdum (247) VS Brandon Vera (228)
Martin Kampmann (186) VS Jorge Rivera (185)
Thiago Tavares (154.5) VS Matt Wiman (155)
Roan Carneiro (171) VS Kevin Burns (170)
Luiz Cane (204) VS Jason Lambert (205)
Jess Liaudin (169) VS Paul Taylor (169)
Eddie Sanchez (244) VS Antoni Hardonk (247)
*Note: Fighters are allowed to weigh one pound more than the division limit in non-title fights.
Remember that MMAmania.com will also provide LIVE round-by-round, blow-by-blow coverage of the main card action on fight afternoon, which is slated to air at 3 p.m. ET on pay-per-view (PPV) from the O2 Arena on Saturday, June 7.
Of course, the latest quick updates of the prelim bouts will begin to flow earlier than that at around 1:30 p.m. ET.
It’s going to be an entertaining afternoon of mixed martial arts action … check us out for all the pre, during and post-fight coverage you can handle.
Note that the UFC 85 PPV will re-air at 10 p.m. ET.

I'm guessing this has to do with the quick booking of the fight. Still, how much weight does the guy cut if he was still off by 4 pounds? Dude must be a beast.

UFC 85 Weigh-In Results
By Thomas Gerbasi
Former UFC welterweight champion Matt Hughes calls it his comeback fight, and even though he will be doing it at a catchweight of 174 pounds after his UFC 85 opponent, Thiago Alves, didn’t make weight today at the O2 Arena, he believes a win over ‘The Pitbull’ Saturday night will be the first step on his road back to the 170-pound crown.
“This is a comeback fight,” said Hughes, a two-time welter champion who weighed in at 170 pounds Friday. “I’m very happy to fight an up and comer like Thiago. If I beat him he’s someone I can put on my resume for down the road.”
“Tomorrow night is gonna be a war,” said Alves, 174. “You’re gonna see the best ‘Pitbull’ ever and I’m gonna knock him out.”

I guess its better than getting banned for 8 months, unless your Gabe Ruediger.

it must be tough for him to get down to 70 | I had forgotten about that... Eesh, I'm no doctor, but using that kind of stuff to help cut weight cannot be good for you. That's got to really fuck up the body -- or your stamina, at least. Anyone have any info on that; my performance enhancer knowledge is relegated almost exclusively to steroids?
