| Tavares vs. Wiman *SPOILER*
What happened? I more or less had a reserve seat on the Thiago Tavares bandwagon. I thought he beat Tyson Griffin when they fought. I thought this guy was really going to break through. A good looking kid who speaks english in a pretty strong division.
I think he still can become something but wow. who saw that coming? Tavares didn't just get caught with a lucky punch but he got handled by Matt Wimen (who looked incredible. Not taking credit away from him at all).
Where does Tavares go from here?

I think Wiman is really underrated. The guy has looked great since TUF and has aruably been the best of the group to come out since the show. The only reason no one notices it is because he is stuck on the back burner for some reason. I think with this fight he moves up the ranks and I would like to see him take on Diaz, or even possibly the loser of Florian/Huerta.

Tavares looked good, IMO. He just got caught.
THe kid has PLENTY of potential, and considering the fact that he JUST turned 22, he has a great future ahead of him.
He hurt Wiman with some good shots, Wiman just had a bit more that night.

Yeah I was shocked with this fight, and the "powerbomb" that happened earlier. Has Wiman always been this good? Tavares was super impressive in his recent bouts, and nobody I was with (including me) gave Wiman a chance at all.
Wasn't Wiman the one on TUF that everyone called out? Maybe I'm confused with that, but this was Fight of the Night IMO.

I am a quite member of the Tavares bandwagon. I was shocked that Tavares lost to Wiman; hell, everyone was. It was an upset, no doubt about it.
Wiman looked great and Tavares lost, no more to it than that. Just a loss.
Tavares will bounce back just fine. He is a future big name in the LW division, maybe even a champion.

He looked way better against Wiman then he did against Omigawa.....
all the guys from TUF 5 have looked amazing, but to say that Wiman has looked more impressive then Maynard is quite the stretch IMO.

nope, tavares never got caught, he got beat, he was being outworked, even on top, wiman was consistently working off hs back. I think im the only person who chose wiman in this fight, i watched both of there fights with omigawa, and i knew wiman could beat tavares. He punished tavares in that fight, and Wiman has a strog chin, cuz once tavares tagged him hard, he just came rite back. Wiman is way better than alot of ppl think, ive been a fan of his for a while, and im looking forward to future fights of hsi

TUF 5 will produce just as many good fighters as TUF 1.
The fighters who really made it from season 1 in no particular order are Kenflo, Koscheck, Leben, Griffin, Bonnar, Mike Swick, Diego Sanchez, and Nate Quarry.
From TUF 5 you have Maynard, Wiman, Lauzon, Emerson, Hill, Diaz, Miller, and Gamburyan.

But you could make an agrument now for Wiman. Both guys are coming off of wins over Edgar and Tavares and I guess it just depends on which one you think is the better win. Right now, I consider Tavares who has a bad match-up for Wiman, a better win then Maynard over Edgar. Maynard had a clear advantage over Edgar in Edgar's biggest strength. So I find Wiman's win over Tavares a lot more impressive.
