Default Lawler Vs. Villasenor Added To Pride Card

www.mmaweekly.com

Two more fights have been officially announced for PRIDE 32: The Read Deal. PRIDE veteran Kazuhiro Nakamura will face Marvin “The Beastman” Eastman. Also, current King of the Cage middleweight champion Joey Villasenor will make his second appearance in a PRIDE ring when he faces “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler.

Japanese Judoka Nakamura is coming off of victories over Evangelista “Cyborg” Santos and Yoshihiro “Kiss” Nakao. Nakamura is currently ranked as the #10 light heavyweight on MMAWeekly’s top ten rankings. UFC veteran Marvin Eastman recently fought to a draw against Jorge Oliveira at WFA – King of the Streets. This will be Eastman’s PRIDE debut.

Joey Villasenor looks to rebound from his PRIDE debut loss to Ryo Chonan at Bushido 11. The Jackson’s Submission fighter will arguably face his toughest test to date when he steps in the ring against “Ruthless” Robbie Lawler. Known for his powerful hands, the UFC and Icon Sport veteran will be making his PRIDE debut. Lawler is coming off of a submission loss to Jason “Mayhem” Miller in early September.

PRIDE 32: The Real Deal fights announced so far:

Fedor Emelianenko (Russia) vs. Mark Coleman (USA)

Mauricio "Shogun" Rua (Brazil) vs. Kevin Randleman (USA)

Mark Hunt (New Zealand) vs. Eric "Butterbean" Esch (USA)

Josh Barnett (USA) vs. Pawel Nastula (Poland)

Dan Henderson (USA) vs. Vitor Belfort (Brazil)

Kazuhiro Nakamura (Japan) vs. Marvin Eastman (USA)

Joey Villasenor (USA) vs. Robbie Lawler (USA)

PRIDE 32: The Real Deal will take place on Saturday, October 21st at the Thomas & Mack Center in Las Vegas, Nevada. The show will be televised live on pay-per-view in the United States from 9:00 PM Eastern Time to 1:00 AM Eastern Time.

Lawler vs Villasenor is a nice addition to the card. It's good to see Lawler back with a big org. This fight should be pretty exciting. Both of these guys can end the fight with 1 punch. I have to give the edge to Villasenor though. He has a better ground game IMO. Either way this one should be fun to watch.

I think that was as long as he was champion. Mayhem Miller has the same contract as him and he fought in the WFA a few months ago.

Well I do know that ICON and PRIDE are on good terms and stuff, so that may have something to do with them letting him fight in PRIDE.

Speaking of Robbie Lawler does anyone know why he left UFC or did they get rid of him? I think he's a pretty good fighter if he'd work on his ground skills.

He was 1-3 in his last 4 fights in the UFC. I don't know the specifics, but my guess is his contract was up and either they chose not to renew it, or he just got a better offer from ICON.
