Recent UFC signing Dan Hardy will make his debut for the organisation at UFC 89 in October, it is being rumoured.

Several MMA sites are also reporting that middleweight champion Anderson Silva will be fighting Yushin Okami at the event.

Highly-touted British welterweight Hardy is apparently being pencilled in for the event, which is allegedly heading for the National Indoor Arena in Birmingham, UK.

The aborted fight between UK MMA superstar Michael Bisping and Chris Leben, originally intended for UFC 85 in London last weekend, is also rumoured to be on the card.

A spokesman for Warrior Promotions Fighter Management said that they not been contacted by the UFC about an October fight for Hardy.

Asked who they would pick as his first opponent in the UFC, the spokesman said only that the organisation has "a lot of good welterweights... we would be looking at guys that are around Dan in the rankings".

Hardy is currently in the USA, training with Eddie Bravo at present and moving on to Xtreme Couture in the next few weeks. He returns to the UK at the end of August.

I think they need another SOLID co-main event for this card and will probably have one by the time all is said and done. Silva-Okami is a fight the hardcore fans have been waiting for but casual fans aren't big on either guy. Add to the fact it's going to be on at 3 in the afternoon again. I think Serra-Hughes would be a good co-main event.

Let's not forget 85 was jinxed so lets hope it doesn't start with Okami-Silva and end with Koscheck-Sanchez II as a main event.

With the rumored card and if they do add Hughes/Serra that card with just those 3 fights I definitely would pay money just for those 3 alone. No KOS no KOS!

I'd like to know the source for this. Also, I wonder since Anderson is moving up to 205 if he plans on staying there or coming back down to 185 to fight fight Okami again.

I was wondering the same thing. Or even, what the hell happens if he wins or loses. Im guessing if he loses, he just goes back to MW and continues to dominate, although with that blemish on his record for trying to move up. But if he wins, then what? Does he vacate the MW title, and get an immediate LHW shot? Or does it just set up the Chuck/Silva fight, winner gets the LHW title shot?
