The only thing about Leben when he was on TUF that was "refined" was all of the truck loads of liquor he drank...lol

Hopefully all of that two-handed drinking is behind him - because he has a lot of heart and it is entertaining to watch him fight.

He has better then average stand up, great power, very solid Jiu-Jits, and could last at least 5 minute without gassing before puking... even the guys this season that they touted as having good BJJ (Donte comes to mind) had horrible BJJ... he never hipped-out to one side and attacked a knee to try and get to half guard when people got side controll and that sort of thing. It was a horrible display of uglyness in terms of BJJ and conditioning accross the board this season.

This season was suppose to be filled with good fighters but we ended up with broken promises.

Amir looked good and even though he is 1-0 and has little experience i believe he will do very good in the future. He already has a great base an just needs to work to build off it.

Agreed, the BJJ was seriously lacking. For all these fighters that supposedly were confident on the ground, they seemed afraid to even go for a sweep when they were on their backs and instead felt content to lay there and get punched in the face. It was a bit disheartening. Either that, or they were too weak to complete a submission. That's why Amir's activity on the ground was that much more appreciated. The guy wouldn't settle for losing.

Agreed. Amir wouldn't have been able to win any of the other shows that had a 185 class, or even win a fight in most of them.

CB was the best guy going in? Really? His cardio wasn't great and he got caught in the same submission twice by the same guy. Any fighter that can sprawl and brawl will beat CB, as will any fighter with great BJJ.

What sucks about having less experienced fighters on the show is that the wrestlers will just lay and pray like Jesse Taylor or CB. Unfortunately that's effective because at that level the standup specialists can't defend takedowns while the BJJ guys aren't used to getting hit in the face. Wrestlers just control the action and get a decision or wear their opponents down with G&P.

The low level of skill on this show is why a completely inexperienced guy like Amir can come in with a huge heart and find himself TUF Champion.

I think Jesse = Tommy Speer
We probably would have seen the same thing in his UFC debut. Give him someone who has knowledge in any aspect in MMA and Jesse would be done.

I get the same feeling from Amir as I did with Forest.

Seems like a very exciting fighter!

GL Amir!

i think a lot of the fighters didnt learn as much from the actual coaches on this one. I'm not saying that they're as bad as Shamrock was. I just think on learning wise, they're the least pair of coaches you could benefit from on in the whole season. rampage wanted tv time and griffin seemed to be just going for the ride so to speak.

Amir is a good fighter and he definitily has a lot of potential, but I just don't think he's ready for the big time. In fact I don't think anyone on that show with all due respect is ready for the big time. I mean lets look at Amir the season winner for instance, he's too small for MW and at WW he's going to be completely lost in the shuffle and won't be up to par with any of the top guys in that division and there's a lot of top guys in that division. Even the gatekeepers are tough as hell and can beat anyone on any given day. WW is just too stacked for Amir at this stage in his career and at MW he's undersized.

The guy seems to have a good head on his shoulders and I'm happy for him. He's already one (or several) steps a head of the Diaz brothers in that dept. I wish him success in the sport.
