Actually I think Diaz' 2 biggest problems by far (aside from his attitude, which isn't a deal breaker) is 1) that he has no wrestling at all and 2) as you point out, he will stand right in front of you and trade with you.
1) is a problem because although he has Gracie blackbelt level BJJ, that is basically useless unless he can get it to the ground
2) is a problem because if he can't get someone to the ground, he has to stand and trade with them, and he only has one gear - forward. He has a great chin and will take even powerful shots just to be able to return fire with a couple pats, a strategy which cannot reliably work against the best strikers
Until he improves his wrestling (which is to say he actually gets some wrestling skills!) and/or stops standing right in front of people when he's tagging them with his pepper fists, he's always an uneventful decision or a brutal one-shot-KO away from losing to even the most untalented fighters.
As a fan of his, the above really frustrates the hell out of me

What strikes me as really crazy is that his little brother has been much more impressive lately. Nate's BJJ game seems like it is better than his older brother's.

Well put Diegonightmare. It is indeed frustrating sometimes being a Diaz fan when he does that stuff
and well put Bullock as well. He does need the help of a master game-planner to improve his consistency imo
edit: I dont think nate's bjj is better, I just think Nick is more willing to stand and bang while Nate is usually looking for a sub throughout the whole fight

Nate seems much more wiley on the ground. But like you said Nick seems to want to prove a point on his feet so that he doesn't get to show his bjj. When he does he pulls off subs like he did against Neer and Gomi. I just think he is the epitome of an under-performer.

That is why Diegonightmare said (and I agree) that it is frustrating to be a Diaz fan sometimes. We know that he has the skill and potential but just doesnt show it sometimes. And that could be because, as you mentioned earlier (and I agree) that he needs someone who comes up with top dollar game plans

Have you fought in the UFC or Pride? Have you failed to make it big against the top competition? EliteXC wants you for a "World" Championship Fight!!! Guaranteed 70% chance of getting a title shot
| That made me laugh so hard because i could just picture that as a intro to a late night Elite infomercial

you know, i used to like elite. then i realized that all the things i liked about the EXC shows were actually because Strikeforce was partnering up with them. yeah, they have a few solid fighters like Bigfoot, Shields, Diaz, Lawler, even Noons and Yves. but they continue to do things that make me hate them. like what the hell was that piece of shit Mike Kyle doing on the main card? Then you got guys like Krazy Horse. Tank/Kimbo main events, Kimbo/Thompson main events, the complete lack of consequence for Gina Carano not making weight on multiple occasions, the employment of Bill Goldberg.
And then, everytime something interest might happen in EXC, Shaw goes and ruins it. Kimbo/Rodgers gets rumored and he says "lets not get ahead of ourselves, this may or may not happen". We get the awesome rumor or Sergei/Silva and it gets immediately shut down for justin eilers? they have the means to make good fights, but they don't do it. i mean, shit, they took Nick Diaz out of a TITLE FIGHT with a TOP 10 WELTERWEIGHT to fight thomas fucking denny? I can't wait til CBS kicks shaw out of the job.

Not that I have a lot to stand up for, but let me stand up for Elite XC for a second.
A) You gotta beleive that CBS is making the final call on the CBS cards. That is why Eilers is fighting Bigfoot and not Brett Rogers. They want a name that someone may have heard outside of EXC.
B) Its already been reported that Noons isn't being featured on CBS is that he has refused to sign a contract extension. According to some of the EXC fighters, the extensions are 4+ fights, and although still non-exclusive Elite has the first right of refusal to when a guy fights. And to hear Noons tell it, they want guys to take less money for the CBS cards.
C) In all honesty, Look at what Elite has accomplished in their short history. No, its nothing amazing, but would anyone have foreseen all of this 18 months ago? If you had been told that they would have a roster with 4 top 10 caliber fighters and Nick Diaz, Kimbo, Scott Smith, & Ninja Rua you would have probably laughed at me.
Certainly they've made some mistakes along the way, and they may be too big for their britches at times, but why not support them.

CBS is heavily influencing the cards on their network. If you look up the origins of CBS, you'll find a lot of manipulation and favoritism and all sorts of conspiratorial suggestions against them.
That is messed up if EXC is really trying to pay guys less for appearing on CBS. I'd tell em to go fuckoff and keep me on Showtime only.
