Fabricio Werdum: I Am Going To Return On November Or December

Quote:

Fabrício Werdum won his second fight at the UFC against Brandon Vera and is already been appointed as a big applicant to dispute the Ultimate belt. After the controversy with Brandon Vera, which insist in complain about the Brazilian, Werdum arrived at after a season of seminaries at and is expecting for his next bout. “Nobody told anything yet, but I believe I am going to return on November or December. I don’t know if to fight for the belt, I believe yes, I want it”, said Fabrício that is going to his hometown, Porto Alegre , to command Chute Boxe.

TATAME

I think his next match is not for the belt yet, if that happen next year...probably.

Well since Nog fights once every 7 months I doubt that Werdum is getting his shot yet, he does deserve one though. He is a top 5 heavyweight IMO

A rematch with Nog would be great, their first fight is a classic and one of the best battles of all time, I would love to see them fight a 5 rounder but odds are it won't be Nog he is fighting. Who else is there that is worthy of fighting him? He beat the 3rd and 4th best heavyweights that the UFC has in his last 2 fights, so unless he fights for a belt or a new heavyweight then it will be a step down in competition. Only thing I can think of is if Nog fights Mir early November/October and is ready to fight on the New Year's Eve show in late December, but that is cutting it close.

The season doesn't start filming until September so thats not going to happen.

And its rumored that Nog vs Mir will be in December

Shouldn't matter who Werdum fights imo because at this point i just want him to stay active.

^ You mean airing in September right?

I haven't even heard anything OFFICIAL stating that Mir will even fight Nog. All we know is that they are coaching and that usually the Coach's fight at the end of the show. Who knows though??? When they announced Forrest/ Rampage and Serra/Hughes TUF shows they announced they would fight at the end. UFC has not done that yet with this particular show.

anyone have a link or know for a FACT that they will be facing off after the show?

I think they might be reserving themselves in case Couture decides to change his mind. In which I think he will. (IMO)

I believe I saw in the "Mir announces his TUF coaches thread", that his bjj coach on the show is a close frined of Nog's and he said he would help Mir on the show but would not train him for his fight with him.

IMO Verdum is holding out and I find it shitty. He doesn't want to become some other heavyweights gatekeeper. Which is why he wants to wait so long. Look at Vera, he is fighting like what 6 weeks after their fight? Verdum is expecting if he fights in DEC, that after Nog/Mir fight they will announce him the #1 contender, and to me that is what I would like to call "pulling a parysian" I am going to coin that phrase.

Aw shit man, he be pulling a Parysian!!!!

neonatural45 07-02-2008 08:48 AM

^You spelled Parisyan wrong, and I don't see how Werdum is being like Karo was at all. Plus it is shitty how Karo gets crap for doing that and Hughes can just chill from UFC 68 to UFC 79 and get his title shot no questions asked.

Werdum has beaten the #3 and #4 guys in that division in his last two fights, is he supposed to take on guys who have no use being in a fight with him and risk what he has worked for just to avoid waiting untill TUF is done shooting?

ArMnHC 07-02-2008 09:11 AM

Mike Goldberg stated during the TUF finale that Mir and Nog will be fighting for the belt. so Werdum needs another tune up fight in the mean time. if he wins, he should get the next shot for sure.

damn TUF and holding up belts!!! we need two guys to just straight hate each other already who can be coaches and then fight cuz this title belt shit is getting lame beyond words of expression!!!
