Jake Shields and Carlos Condit are excellent picks but I don't think anyone underrates them.
For those adding picks, that's cool, but do a whole list for plenty of discussion. Good choices though.
And I think Jacare is great and far from underrated.

We may not underrate them at this forum But they are underrated by most fan standards. A lot of people so underrate them that they give these guys no chance against tweeners in the UFC.
P.S. People totally underrate Jacare just read the argument between BigBanda and KrazyKarl or how many people thought Mayhem would destroy him.

Jacare, Shields, Condit, Mosusai, many great ones stated in here. I agree with Rich Franklin being underrated he only got defeated by Anderson Silva recently.

I guess question is if those fighters are underrated by hard core or casual fans ( I'm sure those 2 lists are VERY different ).

dude, the only reason Shields is underrated at all is because he's in an organization fighting guys who oppose him no challenge whatsoever. Nick Thompson is right on the edge of Top 10 and will be the only tough fight Shields will have in Elite XC at WW. he needs to move to the UFC, where roughly 80-90% of the Top 10 fighters are. so naturally he's going to be looked down on by most fans.
besides that, he should not be on any fans Top 10 Underrated Fighters list.

If I remember he still holds victories against Lutter, Okami ( who is fighting for title now ), Loiseau ( who was on 5 fight winning streak ), Tanner and Shamrock ( who were good at that time ), etc.
His only loses came from Silva and Machida.

I love mayhem he has a great personality but you can't really call him underrated. He tends to get overhyped because he is such a likeable guy, but he hasn't beaten anyone that good since 2006 and doesn't have too many impressive wins. He shows heart, he is great, he went the distance with GSP and Jacare, but I just dont see him as underrated.
