Basically, from reading the article it seems that US orgs do not have to adopt these weightclasses. they will just not be complying with the Unified Rules. | but what if No one adopts those rules, then are they really the Unified Rules, because no one would be using them.

If they don't adopt the rules, it's OK, but it won't be OK. :headscratch:
That's what it says, basically. I guess we have new weight classes for the UFC!

I don't think this will change much, except the 12-to-6 elbow strike and the strike to the back of the head fouls.
I do see Kenny Florian winning a LOT more fights via cut.

Yea i wonder if the UFC will be using these? I mean they've always tried to look as professional as possible, i can't see them goin against " The Unified Rules for MMA in the US", Just seems like bad PR to me. If they do indeed follow these rules we might see a couple new contenders in the divisions.
GSP at 175 sounds good to me.
Looks like Vera will be staying at LHW
Forrest should be coming into fights alot bigger
Wandy should move down to MW
Good to see any elbows strikes are allowed tho, as long as they dont hit the "mohawk" its a legal elbow.
Very Sad to see no knees to a ground opponent
Also sad to see that Smothering is not allowed, always thought it was a good gameplan that didnt get used much, kinda like foot stomps or leg kicks
Anyone know when these rules go into effect?

Interesting. The rule against covering the opponent's mouth seemed a bit unnecessary to me. It really isn't a possible way to choke someone out.

SERIOUSLY tho, why have pussies infiltrated the sport of mixed martial arts? I want soccer kicks, I want stomps, I want knees to the head... yellow cards and 10 minutes first rounds... I KNOW FOR A FACT, I'd like the UFC MORE, if those were the rules.. this is one HUGE reason why i favored PRIDE over the UFC... RULES and JUDGING. FUCK.

Very interesting stuff. I find making LHW from 205 to 225 very interesting. However, I seriously doubt Zuffa will be adopting these new rules anytime soon if at all. Not unless the NSAC and CSAC adopt them and can make them mandatory. Not even sure if they can force Zuffa to abide by them or if they even would if they can.
P.S. No knees to the head on the ground sucks.
