If he beats Okami and then Almeida/Cote I see no reason for him to stay at MW. He should focus all of his efforts at 205. The only logical reason for him to continue to fight at 185 would be for him to hold two belts simultaneously instead of having to give up the MW belt to fight at LHW

If Anderson puts away Irvin in dramatic fashion he will get a major step up in competition in the LHW division and given his demolition of the MW division he will only need 2-3 solid wins in the LHW division before he gets a title shot (I can only hope rampage is the champ at the time, andersons clinch is sick)

Ya im pretty sure he wants to keep the MW belt, which is why he will be fighting so frequently over the course of the year. Assuming he beats Okami, and then the winner of Almeida/Cote, they will probably try to set him up for a rematch with Hendo or something like that. Going between weight classes so often will have to take a toll on his body sooner or later though, especially with how deep the LHW division is...

Anderson Silva is a beast. I honestly believe he could hold both belts but he still has alot of work ahead of him. Obviously he has no challenge in the middleweight division, so it's smart for him to move up. I would love to see him fight some 205 pounders, but I don't think he's ready for a title shot quite yet. Until he can prove himself in that division he should just fight the lower ranks like it looks like he's doing.

Probably the best thing (IMO) in this article is that he wants to fight more times this year and that he is not fighting enough. He is even complaining to Dana White. I hope this starts a trend with fighters. As a fan of the sport its fun to watch it all but if you think about it, we only get to see the big names once or twice a year? I wanna see Chuck Liddell, Nogueria, GSP, BJ PENN all fight 3-4 times a year. When I see main event fights like Bisping vs. Leben it makes me sick and I start to think about this issue.
It does and it does not bother me. It does because its obviously not enough. It does not because there are so many superstars and enjoyable fighters to watch that it still peaks interest.

It seems the trend is picking up a bit. I've seen a few fighters this year, when they havn't taking alot of damage from a fight they fight again in a few months.

Will be good to see how that all works out. | GSP can WANT the MW belt, but he wont get it with Hendo/Franklin and Silva there.
Of those 3 only BJ and Silva could win 2 diff weight belts at once.

anderson at lhw would have some very good match ups but i thnk he would loose to the big guys with good wrestling and power...but i would like to see hendo get another win at mw then rematch silva...so imo there is still another good fight at mw for silva after okami and cote/almieda...

That makes me think Anderson could hang with Rampage.......and we all know how Anderson dominated Hendo. I get the mma math does not add up,but imo if Anderson and Hendo were to fight again the result would be the same. It`s definetly time to give Anderson a new challenge after he beats Okami.
